update - rear tubing

it is not done but i decided to post it anyway. this are the rear tubing protection. see page 17 the cab and camper are now joint together. enjoy

I have to say this build is by far the coolest thing I've seen (read) on here (IH8MUD or Expo Portal) now that's not taking away from anyone or any of the other 100-1000's builds out there, but this is just unbelievable. How long has it been since you started this build and what type of total investment will this project require (I realize that's inquiring about really personal info & if you don't want to respond I completely understand, an sorry of this has already been discussed, I must have missed it), you've done a great job doing allot yourself, but along the way you've also had some very talented help as well, I also wanted to thank you for providing the info on them (shops/people) and the parts! I can't wait to see from here what's in store, please keep updating and soon!!!

I think the pass-through from cab to the camper is killer. Great idea, now you have a true RV! That's gonna be sweet to be in the camper while driving. What about a couple side windows and maybe a window in the rear?

i started about 1 years and a half ago on the build, but it took me about one year to find the vehicle platform. the double cab and the extended chassis of the Nulla was hard to let go once i saw her. i have not really added up what it has cost me. sometimes i had to do things twice, like the rear camper i changed it to aluminum, which reduced the weigh of the nulla by 1000 pounds. thanks to Laser Cutting Northwest it did not cost me a penny except for my labor. i know that in the end i will spend way less if i had bought something that is already build, which i could not afford anyway.

custom off road fabrication have done a lot to build the foundation. i am going to the overland expo in Prescott in the middle of April. in Prescott i hope to field test the Nulla and get more ideas on additional modifications to strengthen the base.

in Prescott i also hope to get ideas on the recovery equipments and lights that i need... i am now trying to make a decision on the winch but i will wait until after Prescott to make that decision.

after Prescott, next on the build will be the engine. i plan to rebuild the engine and i think i have found a re builder in Los Angeles to do that.

i really enjoy working with the shops who are tolerance to ideas, because i am building as i go. i want to thank them for their patience.

most importantly i would not have done this without the support of the ih8mud community.

yes there will be windows including a window in the rear and marker light. i am also beginning to think about the lay out inside the camper. i hope to get some ideas on all of this at the overland expo in Prescott... thanks

Any thoughts on adding a security door in between the cab/camper? Are you keeping the windows small and up high? I know the bigger overland trucks usually have these security measures in place along with a hatch on top of the camper portion.

i am still of researching this, but security is a concern so small window up high is an option i am thinking about this, any ideas will be welcome.

How much more weight you have to carry with that tubing ?

Do you think you can use it as a jackpoint to lift the car ?

hi soenke, you know you are an inspiration to my build. i would say the tube added about 200 to 300 pounds but i think well worth, i have to put it on the scale again.
yes the "rock slide" are lift jack point, we have tested them. i will also attached the wide fenders to the tubes.

here is what i did today when it was not raining. the top of the fender is; diamond plate aluminum - fiberglass - aluminum.

i am pretty sure it will not crack

with all the work you did on the floor, i was shocked too see you glass the front gards.

up date - floor board, etc

had a change to put the diamond plate aluminum floor board and re installed the donaldson air filter this weekend. also picture of the armor tube powder coated. we are still trying to decide on whether or not to rebuild the engine, if we don't rebuild the engine painting it will be next big project. we are thinking flat gray, the roof is now painted metal gray it is a marine grade paint with UV protection to protect the fiber glass, we will leave the aluminum on it's natural state, no paint.
