what do ya think about removing a leaf from the rear spring pack?

But rear you only got 4 leafs ? so you gonna have only 3 ?

You probably don't haul much weight in the rear so I would think taking a leaf out is worth a try. It won't cost you anything. I'd take out the shorter leaves first since longer leaves flex better.

That true .. other option could be replace short ones for long ones ( leaf )

I would try to achieve a shackle angle closer to 45 deg, should take care off all the above issues.

yeah, i'm with nutley on this one. even if you get your springs to sag more, your shackle angle is still goin to be an issue.

what is the "ideal" setup?
something like 45-50 degrees when your spring is completely flat?
i think i remember that from a thread that mark whatley did a while back.
that's what i'm goin for with mine...

i have to agree, you need an angle on the shackels or they wont move. just my 2 cents

more updates

I Figured i would make an Update on some Recent work to the truck..

I did some Body work here - https://forum.ih8mud.com/paint-body/208143-replacing-portion-tub.html

finally put in a Roll Cage :D, Designed it in Bend Tech and Bent it up out at Redline.. Front Suspension Seats are "Race Trim". and the rear seats are Tumble and fold, not too sure what they came out of. but they work Perfect for a 40. Tube Doors from Redline..

I still have not addressed the Bad Ride Issues, but i Figured Safety was First! :D

I also Traded out the 1.5" spacers for 3" but they will work till i can build some wider axles..

I am SO. Happy with the way everything is working. the Pit Bull Rockers are working good now that they are getting broken in a bit.

throw some 60 series springs under there, they might push your shackle angle out there close to where you want them, and flex better too

Are you running 3" wheel spacers on those pics . ? don't look that huge ..

Yes, those FJ Cruiser Steel wheels have a 4.5" Backspace, thats the reason for the huge spacers..

Im Running FJ60 Rear Packs.. Front is Flipped Fj40 springs. Im Happy with how it flexes, Id just like it to ride a bit smoother..

 Those Fox 2.0 Shocks are looking like they will do the trick.. :hhmm:

yeah i meant in the front, they might actually push your shackle angle out too far though.....did you ever get your rear driveshaft issues resolved?

skid plate

Isotel,

How is the skid plate holding up? I thought that was a interesting idea. Is it still working out like you thought it would?

Thanks,

Andy

Skid Plate is Trashed. Use 1/4" on the bottom of yours! I do like the design, but its dented up to the point that it hits the transmission now! Bustanut was right ;)

Working on a Bumper and some other little things before moab.. Picked up an 8274..

Thanks! I am not sure exactly how it's going to work itself out on my project. I picked up a stick of 1.5"x.120 this afternoon. I'll play with that to see if I can snake it across the bottom. I am hoping I can keep the spans down and stay with the 3/16".

Do you have an opinion on using UMVH as a skin for the skid plate or has that trend proved to be less than effective?

Thanks Andy

Nice. I see you took out the neutral gate so you can go from D to R quickly. Looks tight for cable routing, is it working out alright?
