I use a 20'. A 30' gives more length stretch (no more percentage). The problem with going with a very long rope is it takes up a bunch of room in your recovery bag - but you do get more length stretch.

I spliced up a 30' today for a customer.
i guess it depends on application. for me, we deal with longer hills, skag and mud/clay. 30' really doesn't allow for the distance needed to get to the stuck vehicle ... the 100 footer comes out very seldom but once it is needed then it is a life saver ... i have even had to couple the 100' and the 50' together to be able to reach the stuck vehicle at the bottom of a hill.
yes, we could have used the winch but the winch is slow and, more often than not, a PITA to run out, winch up, run out again so you can re-feed it onto the drum correctly.

i am sure there are times when the 30' works well.

as a lineman for several years all we used was ropes ,for towing lifting and recovery.i use a military bubba style rope on my 6x6 and monster trucks .everything else breaks and my 50,000 lb pto winch will make a 3/8 chain stand straight up in the air.the ropes are much lighter and easy to work with when your dragging it through waist deep water and mud.but i use what ever it takes for a safe recovery no mater where im at never know who will be watching.

Cody - Thanks for the kind words. Yep, we got an awesome video on your site thanks to you and Louis Skebo. We just try and tell it like it is. We're serious about vehicle recovery and our products, but don't want to take ourselves too serious. After all, we're all just Bubba's.

One of the main reasons we joined this gourp is to educate people of the benefits of using KERR ropes. Good discussion here and lots of good options and products mentioned above.

BTW- wanna go in and start a new forum called "Fear No Mud"?
Just saying...:)

Bubba rope, for the two posts you have made so far, I like how you roll.

You may notice that ishobie has a video on IH8mud's front page reviewing/advertising your product.

Maybe sometime we can talk you into being a vendor or maybe giving ihmud members an annual sale or group buy deal? I've been eyeing up your product and overlands for a while, as my cruiser just had two straps stolen as well as tools and electronics the other weekend I maybe looking to replace mine soon.

BTW, welcome to mud!

I just picked up a 7/8" x 20' Bubba Rope at 4 Wheel Parts today with a gift certificate I got for my birthday. Happy birthday to me. Thanks Bubba!

I originally wanted a longer one but they had a 20'er in stock and I decided the physical size of the 30'er would have been a bit much to have hanging around in my rig all the time.
