so quick question, is the difference between the 3FE and the 1FZ that big? I know what the numbers are but, if I'm shopping for a 80 should I exclude the early models, because of the 3FE?

Not only is the engine slightly better, toy's second round of FE in cruisers, but the second gen of 80's have Full Float rear axles, and a higher chance of lockers from factory... Upgraded interior, slightly newer, so parts will be available for slightly longer...

Thanks
Cody

The 3FE was a carry over from the 62 and was the first fuel injected engine put in the LC's. Some were fans of it but when I was looking I was only interested in the 93 - 97. The 1FZ was a better design carried the weight of the 80 much better still no power house when built but as you know its a MTN goat when it needs to be and very versatile. Also the transmission when much improved over the early models with the 3FE. 95 - 97 is OBII compliant which makes it easier for trouble shooting sensors and also was the first year they used the sombrero on the grille. If you found a clean 93 - 94 I wouldn't turn it away they started putting the in the 1FZ that year and offered the factory locker option.

Do some reading here its very helpful. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/faq-for-80-lx450-nov-2013-added-shaky-mirror-fix.84888/

Just purchased a '97 with factory lockers had a blast with it at scc. I had a '93 unlocked fzj80 at one as well. At first I was thinking of building a 3fe 80, but as I shopped, it becomes clear the built fzj80 market is a buyers market. Great deals can be had! I agree, Go with a fzj80 and if ya can with lockers

I'm going look at an unlocked 96 tomorrow. I wish it had lockers but I plan on daily driving this for a couple years before really getting back offroad, and I plan on going with larger tires which means re-gearing, and I can do lockers then.

Hey guys, I've been looking for a whole and can't find it. Isn't there one of our members who has a spare tire cover that you can unzip and store a bunch of stuff inside? I'm not looking for a trasharoo. It's a real spare cover that also has a compartment of it...

Thanks
Cody

yup the one i have is or was made by "the Tire Mule"

PS don`t be any hurry :)
what size & color ya looking at?

Ah, I thought it might have been you, you always have the cool accessories...
I guess size would be for a 33+" and probably black. I was trying to put together a future list, and remembered seeing it somewhere.

Thanks
Cody

Damn @beyondlogic that sucks! Like Mike said, I hope everyone is alright!

Does it look like it has frame damage?
