Brake light switch

Ok so as some know I have a build thread in the hardcore section but I figure this would be a question best asked here. My 40 had zero wiring when I got it . I have made my own harness for the engine . Real basic SBC. Does not take much . Anyways I have decided to try and get the brake lights to work But have no clue what to even start with . There is 1 wire coming off the brake switch I can not imagine that is right should have 2 at minimum I would think . The wire is cut so no idea where it went . Do you just run a power lead to the brake switch then a lead from the switch to the brake light Ps this is a 1969 Pic is of the switch

This is what is left of the wires at the frame . I believe the yellow - red goes to the fuel sending unit On the gauge cluster. . What would the solid yellow go to from the fuel gauge

I did find this. In the pile of the old harness And it has the yellow red And Yellow so it must go to something .

I am guessing the solid yellow is the power to the fuel oil and temp gauge since they all jump together.

Well I wired the yellow red to the yellow red . Then ran a hot wire to the solid yellow just to see if my Gas tank would blow up . . It didn’t. And my gas gauge came up could it be that easy

gas gauge works check . ran a wire to the brake switch and test light to the other side and we have brake lights .

Those brake light switches are a pain when they break like that. The wires get moved around enough that they start to break right where they come out of the switch and it makes repair impossible. Mine is barely hanging on as well. You can get a new switch from Toyota still thankfully for pretty cheap. Here is a pic of what the switch looks like:

Mine looks just like that . After getting the schematic and really looking at things. It’s a very simple set up . Mine has a few variations from the OE since I have a SBC. But for the most part everything is pretty close . I will try and duplicate the color coding the best I can .
