Reminder!

When lubing threads, which a thread sealer or locker effectively is a lube. Reduce torque ~20%. So, in 100 series front caliper mounting bolts w/spec of 90ft-lbf dry, reduce to 73ft-lbf wet.

Personally if I'm installing new bolts, I don't typically use a thread locker. But will, if reusing bolts.

Hey all im preparing for my rear brake job. Reading all the brilliant info here. Just want to be clear on the torque for caliper bolts - i see in this thread: 100 series ft-lbf rear 76. I will be using brand new bolts. But in FSM it states only 20 ft.lbf ?

Same in the FSM components diagram.

76ft-lbf 17mm bolts & washers, caliper torque plate to rear axle housing. These are the bolts that stretch and or rust, we replace.
20ft-lbf 12mm bolts, caliper to rear brake cylinder mounting plate (torque plate) slide pins to brake caliper.
Make very sure to grease four pins lightly and replace the two (four boots total) boots on each side.

I'm going to start using thread locker (medium hold) on all (old and new) caliper mounting bolts.
