Thule Load Stops - Set of 4 at REI.com

Thule Load stops with large stainless pipe clamps, Then mounted the Camping Lad Awning system to the load stop. The 6" tube holds 5 ultralight fishing rods, and a high lift jack to stop the kids from damaging the fishing rods when they are in the back of the truck. THe highlift Jack is stored in there also to keep it out of the way (easily acces.) and and of the weather.

Went wheeling this weekend. Push her HARD. SHe held together nicely. A little more tweeking on the front suspension, but am very happy with the results. Push her VERY hard just to see if she would hold together.

yea.. I am sure that will happen on the next trail ride. I think most of the NFCH crew will wake up in GSTMR with pink axles :):):)

So you decided to keep it? It was extremely tempting back when you had it for sale. That would have been one heck of a deal. I'm extremely surprised it didn't sell. What an awesome setup.

Thanks for the props. I am actually happy I didnt let it go. Thank god for good friends with enough sense to slap me when I think about making stupid decisions, I am glad he talked me out of it. I have been having a lot of fun with it lately, now that work is not as slammed. THe hydrolic assist steering is on, and man what a difference in ease of steering. I will post up some more wheeling pics soon, I have some great shots, and some great vids.. I am also getting ready to install a snorkel kit made for a LX470 (100 series landcruiser) in the next week or so. And when the temps warm up a bit, I am going to finish the TUbe/soft doors, and get them mounted.

I also looked at my Dads LX470 (just like yours), and it looks VERY EASY to put a sold axle under that truck. THe steering is a bit different than my Sequoia, but still a do-able task. :):)

Tug of war against a f250 4x4 turbo diesel (7.3) behind a bar that he was s*** talking at. I pulled him slowly but surly, 5 to 7 feet, then he got pissed and hit the brakes, then I pulled his rig with all of his tires locked up with brakes.. for another 15 feet till I heard his horn.

I did this pull to see how well the Toyota/ford drivetrain would hold up to all the abuse of a dry pavement tug-of war against a SERIOUS TRUCK...

After getting the front axle dialed in, I promptly blew a 35 spline hub assembly on a rock garden (I am sure it was a defective unit) so this was taken in 3 wheel drive. But I also wanted to give some updated photos. Look on Youtube for the updated movies also.

Dang.. this build is nutz.

Don't be too hard on the factory IFS, it holds its own pretty well i think.

What made you decide to not go with a shackle reversal up front?

Great QUestion. Here, goes. The Frame on the Suk is different than that of a F250. the rear hangs lower that the front, and the way that the frame rails intersect with the factory leaf srprings. Also, the location of the oil pan (you can swap out on oil pan from a cruiser but that added $1K to the job)to the axle was a factor in the dec. If I had the Shackle reversal, when the axle flexed (up of down) it would pull backwards and risk several factors under the truck. ie: steering, oil pan, tires hitting the rear well. With that said, I will be also adding a leaf pring to lift the front 2 more inches, then cutting off 2 inches on the front shackles.

Please note: this build is a budget build to see if it was even poss to hang an axle under this rig at an affordable $$ tag AND to see how well it will hold up with this set up. Right now I have less than $1.5k on swapping both the Ford axles under this rig with all the fab parts. then add the cost of gearing and the detroit lockers.

I plan on wheeling the hell out of this rig with this set up until it fails. THEN I will spend the money on linking this rig in the front, then in the rear.

It easily stuffs 37" tires (rough measurment) I plan on going to 39" tires when I wear out these tires that are on it. I have been very happy with the results so far, but I do know that links are in its future. I have just been keeping myself entertained in this project with a budget. So I figure, by next year, she will start the linking proccess. I just wanted to see what she could do on leaf springs first, and to keep it affordable, yet strong...

Thanks for the inquiry.

UPDATE.. Just ordered a set of 39" IROK Radials.... Very excited...... Pics up in a few days.
