Sounds like it’s time to change out my Star Wars themed personalized plate. Nobody seems to get my current one anyway...

TRBOTNK here I come!

Just FYI for the fence sitters:

Last day to get the reduced price of the turbo pre-order. After today it goes to $6k for the complete kit. I have the first batch of turbos in from BorgWarner and just waiting on the pipe shop to deliver all four of the last pieces I need.

WHOA!?!?!? Sounds like you might ship soon.

Have they given you any idea of timeframe on the rest?
Guessing since i was later in the order list it's gonna be a bit for most of us?

Edit: Also any chance the install instructions are further along? And if so could we see another copy?

Thanks for pushing through all this Joey. Super excited for this.

Huummmmm.......those first 5 better have some good build threads up pronto!!!

Yep, I think pre-qualification interviews are in order.

No supplying those longtermproject types that get it home, unpack it, figure out how it all goes together, leave it on the bench for 6weeks, then shift it to a shelf to mature for 12 months or so, maybe take a couple of bits down, turn them over a bit, then put them back on the shelf again!

Dang! I'd fail the pre-qualification for sure :frown:

Im ready

I did the same as you first round. Went 612 miles, spun a rod bearing and said screw it. Went for the gold this time. Youll be fine.
I have a feeling that the remaining 7 short blocks in North America are going to be gone soon after this turbo is released.

I'd bet the same. I almost went new shortblock but rebuilt/machined mine instead. Should have gone for broke and built it all out with forged bits of fun.
Hopefully the one i built lasts a good while. If not, well now at least i already know how to build a 1fz :flush:

~15k miles on it since i finished. Nice and broken in for the turbo :steer:

Yup. Me too. About 12,000 miles on full rebuild with new OEM short block. Rebuild and new short block were not that far apart cost wise at the time. Wish I had known about ARP studs and cometic gasket at the time, but a turbo was not even a twinkling in my eye when I looked at the old girl.

Fortunately, I’m not in a hurry to go faster with my new turbo!

Right? After machining, parts, the time it took to assemble, donor block (in my case with a thrown rod) etc. wish i had just got an OEM shortblock. Would have been about the same cost for a new block. BUT it was fun to build the motor too.

Sorry for the off topic rambling but hopefully someone eventually reads this as they go down the turbo wormhole.
