Let em roll!

AWESOME day! Wonderful wheelin, great people and amazing views throughout.
Made it back to Reno at around 930 pm.
When I hit the dirt road, I got stuck for the duration behind a semi trailer...What are the odds of that? Hadnt seen car/ truck one on that damn road, then when I hit it...I had to hang back because of the dust.
Thanks to you "easterners" for setting this thing up.
Mark, yours and your wifes hospitality out there was OUTSTANDING. Never did I expect a great camp breakfast, let alone dinner. Thank you both so much.
Dan, it was great having you along for the ride. I think we were both about on the floor with fatigue at the end of the day, but it sure was nice to have someone to chat with.
Chris...Im gonna call you "throttle boy" from now on. It suits both your driving and your you personality.
Everyone else...it was awesome wheeling with you and seeing you.
Cant wait to do it again, but next time...Id like to camp out. That trip home was pretty brutal.

Here are the pics....theres quite a few!
The first few are of the "ROCK"!
It is TOUGH. That was the first obstacle I had encountered where the ONLY thing you could do to conquer it, was push the pedal to the floor. Its WET, so there is NO TRACTION, and its STEEP and TALL. Pictures just do NOT do it justice. I dont think it would be that difficult if you could only maintain traction, but...IMO, skinny pedal and a good line is the key.

An the last few...
I wish that Id have gotten more pics in the Steamshovel canyon. That was a bitchin trail down there. Tight, technical and scenic. In the sun down light, the fall colors on the trees looked as if they were flourescent. Very cool.

No REAL carnage to speak of...
Chris popped a spring hanger the night before, and Dan welded id up with a 110 that Mark had, and it held up perfectly. One of the jeeps cracked a radiator, and I broke my 2M antenna. Aside from that. It was a perfect trip.

Thanks again to everyone!

Cant wait to do it again!

Keith

I am glad everyone had fun, and thanks to Keith for making the trek from Reno on no rest! I doubt we will get back up there this year, it was already sketchy on the trail with that mud and snow. Probably not the best idea seeing as how it will be getting worse. Definately when it gets warmer, and the water cutting thru there might make it more challenging.

Throttle boy huh? I guess I am inclined to stomp it a little more because of the mud/rocks we have back in Bama. In that stuff, throttle is your friend. But hey, it got me up that rock, that's for sure. I knew the skinny pedal was the way to go.

Pictures look good, I know John and Mark still have some to post up. Got to run get the 40 unpacked and get a nap before work tonight.

Chris

Wow, looks like it was a great trip. Sorry I couldn't make it. Hopefully next time.

Can't wait to see the rest of the pictures.

That, and youre personality...
Your energy is NUCLEAR. Im a pretty low key individual, but its cool to see someone with as much "zest" as you have.
You and John are fearless which is intruguing to some one a cautious as I am. I do not like to get into the trottle, but I do really like that you and John do not really concern yourselves with the fear of breaking. I wish that I could be more that way sometimes when wheeling. Id have a much better understanding of the limits of my rig. Progressively, Im learning with the seat time I get.
Everyone DEFINATELY has their own driving styles a ways of picking their lines over obstacles. Sometimes you just gotta go with your gut. If it works, great. If not, you learn. No ONE WAY is perfect.

Stop dangit, your making me weepy!!!

I've grown up around race cars, hot rods, offroading, and I have learned that sometimes you have to give it the goods! It is good that I have a blatant disregard for sheetmetal, springs, frames, skidplates....it does suit my style. Now I do know when to tone it down, as you saw on a few of the other obstacles, but places like that rock need the juice.

I was thinking that maybe that trail would be a good one for the club to do a "spring fling" type of run. Camping, wheeling, bbq'ing, and general all around fun. It is really pretty up there, from mountains, trees, creeks, rock faces, and a little mud from time to time.

Again Keith, thanks for making the trek out there with us. It was nice to get to know you and awesome to see that sick a$$ 62. I really hope we can all get together and go to Rubithon together. I know that Mark and I are locked in and definately going. I have to get as much wheeling in with you guys as I can in the next year and a few months, after that, it is time for me to head to another base and find new places to play.

Chris

What an Awesome Trail

It was truly a beautiful day, and the company was absolutely the best!
Mark and Kathy, thank you for the open arm welcome that you gave to everyone, as was previously stated, "Your hospitality was the BEST!"
Keith it was great to get to spend some time wheeling with you, I will be looking forward more adventures with you.
Mat and Albert, thanks for being there, it was great to have you on the trail with us, and have the ability to pick on your HEEPS! :D maybe we should figure out a way to counter balance and give you some more weight where it is really needed... :grinpimp:
Chris, a spring fling out there sounds like a great plan, I would definitely be up to an overnighter, lets get together and make plans and see how many would be up to the challenge. Camping at the trail head to Steam Shovel would be perfect, maybe a little rocky, but lots of fun.
If I have forgot anyone, to all, thanks for an awesome trip and the time that we got to share together.
