following up..............Mark Algazy had fabbed an adaptor for the 3 to 4 bolt pattern in the past but I believe it was for fj40s and 45s, will try to contact him about using it on the early 55s after a 2f install, could not find it on his website :(

I think you are still going to have clearance issues unless you don't use a booster.

Brett; thanks for the input...........:hhmm:was hoping to use the 79s gas pedal and linkage as the 2F carb has the linkage setup..........am running into clearence issues with the gas pedal though....on the 79 it is shifted about 1 1/2 inches towards the middle and there is a hollow/bucket in the 79s sheetmetal where it fits....cannot just drill a hole and bolt it on the 69; will require some firewall modification to make a small bucket where the 79s gas pedal can be bolted away from the 69s clutch and brake pedals; ran out of time today but will try to get more pix tomorrow:cheers: TIA

Throttle cable needs to be changed to the 70 and up style, then you need the bellcrank assembly that late 72 and most of 73 FJ40/55's used. That is what chris is referring to. SOR.com shows it in there throttle linkage blowups.

Bellcrank. Thanks Brett. I couldn't remember. It's part number 66 in the picture. SOR has used ones available, it looks like.

can I use the bellcrank part # 66 on the 2F carb?......in 72-73 it was on an F engine and carb; would it be compatible?,,,,,,,was hoping to be able to use the gas pedal and linkage off the 79 BUT that would entail more sheetmetal work to get the assembly to clear brake and clutch pedals which brings up another problem......but am not smart enough to deal with too many problems; gotta solve one at a time............TIA for y'alls help and advice without which I could never stand a prayer of pulling this one out:beer:

I think so. From the picture it looks like the same one I used.

Chris/Brett, appreciate the input.........talked to Mark A. and he has made up a kit to convert the 79s linkage to to a cable set up
have a 79 2F with linkage BUT the 69 has cable and the pedals are very different; cannot use the 79 pedals on the 69 firewall without doing some serious sheetmetal fabbing.....will post pix when I get the kit in, needed a cable anyway as the one on the 69 was cut!

remote brake booster?, an option??

:steer:has anyone used a remote brake booster when there has been a 2f install in an earlier pig? with a single system nonboosted master?.......:eek:I personally do not like the idea of a single system although we drove around for years with them......and without a booster:eek:
 in this transplant 69 body to 79 frame with 2f; there is just no way that the booster + master cyl will fit with the 2F and carb........the toyota brake booster and master unit would knock out the carb:lol:.........:hhmm:hotrodders use a remote booster and we had the hydrovac/bendix remote booster for single systems in the 50s ; europeans used the old ATE-50 series also same time period and single system; these folks make a dual system remote booster Engineered Components, Inc. - Hot Rod Brakes and Brackets - Your One Stop Brake Shop!
any thoughts and comments are welcome; TIA

not much progess; just got the tailgate on the 69 working <hot wired> and took the 69s clutch master off....broke of one of the hex head screws and had to drill and tap; finally got the clutch master from the 79 installed on the 69 firewall......will have to bleed tomorrow; trying to figure out still how to do the brake master.....go with an F manifold + carb?, do a remote booster?, minitruck booster?; would prefer to keep the 2F carb; is there any advantage of the 2f carb over the F carb?............well, will have to think on it a bit more..when in doubt?, hit the zerks with some grease, good time to think; did notice the transfer case linkage on a split case has no grease fittings:doh:

trying to figure out still how to do the brake master.....go with an F manifold + carb?, do a remote booster?, minitruck booster?

Lou, what about the firewall graft like they talk about in one of the latest Toyota Trails? Thats what I'm going to do on the FJ45LV. Get the drivers side firewall out of the '79 c/w pedal bucket and graft it into the '69. Would that work? I know it's drastic but I can't see why it would not work.

Charles, that is a very good question that I have thought about a lot!.....the bottom of the 79s firewall is rotten, you can punch a #2 lead pencil through it in many places....Noah<73guppy> is going this firewall transplant route route in his 2F install on a 70.........probably a much cleaner look, am under time constraints to get these 2 pigs out of the way where I have them.....adding to this am a very poor excuse for a welder.......will bleed the clutch later today and see about the possibility of a minitruck booster + an F carb on the 2F engine I have...will try to get some pix of the 79s firewall also this evening..........thanks again Charles:cheers:;

:wrench:well this evening got the clutch bled and the TC case shifter + GBox shifter in place trying to figure out some things on the 69s fire wall....and thinking about eliminating the fuel air separator; to install it would entail punching throught the drivers rear quarter panel to open the way for the four hoses from tank to separator then for another hose from separator to charcoal canister?????????, in adition to fabbing a mount for the fuel air separator:hhmm: will it make the 2F run better?would it not be more expedient to cap off the 4 outlets from the tank and just reroute the fuel air separator outlet direct from fuel tank to the charcoal canister?....it is a bitch of an area to drill to run those hoses.........am trying to simplefy the tank plumbing and wondering how many lines do I need?, obviuosly a filler hose; a hose to the carb and a vent ? which way to go, any ideas appreciated; ran into a piece on the 69s firewall and wondering if it had to do with the vacuum TC shifter that had been removed?, it is circled in red there is also a red button on the left lower control panel..........circled in yellow? what is it for?..... TIA

Brett, there is a rotting away carcass of a 71 about 60 miles away; i think it has the hand throttle knob on it..........I will take a look nxt time am in the area and try to get it for you:cheers:

Lou

was under the transplant pig looking at dry rotted fuel lines thinking about how to replace them and realized that have broken off the two rearmost body mount studs:crybaby:...has anyone had to replace these?; they are in a boxed in section and :hhmm: wondering how the heck do I get there to replace them? without cutting a window which I would prefer not to do unless there is no alternative...TIA

Lou

Hey Lou, there should be rubber sheets covering the access to the top bolt head. Hard to tell till you look and feel back there. The sheet should be bonded to the surrounding sheet metal and when covered in roadgrime it looks just like more sheet metal.

Rich, will take a look later today..........I will be on my back head towards th engine; are they going to be towards the motor or towards the tailgate side?..........everything looked like sheetmetal back there:confused:

Lou

Yep just like you said Lou, on your back head toward the motor, reach up there toward the tailgate, that area right above the rear body mount bracket should be rubber sheeting, so toward the tailgate then. Good luck there, let us know how it goes.Rich
