This weekend I hope to get time to drop my fuel take to clean it out. (hasn't ran in 13 years)
I saw a few youtube videos of people using carb cleaner to clean out the fuel lines. Is that what the Mud community suggests on the FJ60's and where should I start? I was guessin at where the fuel filter is.
First time getting a "garage find" back on the road so if my questions seem nubbie, well I am. Ha.

Other info... rebuilt carb by Mark(not installed yet), full manual rotation on engine, old plugs looked good(maybe a tad hot), replacing plugs/wires/dist cap and rotor, oil change, fuel and air filter, PCV valve. All toyota parts.

Thanks,
Jason

That's how I cleaned mine out: Just blew a whole can of Carb cleaner through all the metal lines, then some compressed air. Worked fine.

If the engine hasn't run in 13 years, I would squirt some light oil or MMO (marvel mystery oil) in the spark plug holes and let sit overnight before firing.

Otherwise seems like you've got the right idea.

Why parked?

Thanks. Yeah I got some MMO in the spark plug holes before I turned it over manually. The PO "hated the MPG" but loved the truck. Engine was rebuilt 6 months before he parked it. I noticed that the PCV valve and fuel filter were non oem when I replaced them. Also the guy that rebuilt the carb said that at one point it had been rebuilt improperly, cant recall what he said exactly. Maybe those things combined are what got the PO the horrible mpg.

So did you clean your lines out with carb cleaner? If so, how did it do? Was there any visible rust in the lines that came out?

Yeah I used the carb cleaner and a compressor. Seemed to work well. Actually did it a few times that day and then again the next day just because everything was out. Hard to say what actually came out of the lines due to the old rubber lines still being attached at the rear and they were pointed up towards the dirty underside of the body.
