Onur indicated that the blower motor was no longer available, as well as, every neighborhood parts house in the area. A friend at O'Reilly's located this for me, and it is a bolt on replacement. $53 special order. No rebuilding or trying to find parts for an old one.

BAD NEWS! I just went to install today. The shaft on the blower mentioned above is about 1" too long. And to top it off it has a diameter change about midway down that prevents the squirrel cage from going down far enough on the shaft. This makes the cage hit the upper housing on the inside. The blower motor is perfect, the electrical hookups are perfect, the flange on the motor that mounts to the blower housing is perfect.....BUT THE SHAFT IS THE WRONG DIAMETER AND IS TOO LONG!

I am heading to the machine shop this afternoon with it. I am thinking we are going to turn it down and cut it off. I am sorry about posting this now.

I am going to make mine work, but I guess you guys don't need to listen to me!

I have not gotten to overhauling the blower and heater yet so I am not familiar with how the parts fit together. I am also pretty damn new to metal work so... Given all that, any chance it could just be cut and then the shaft could be drilled and tapped for a bolt? EDIT: hard to tell from the picture but is the fan press fit on a conical bit of the shaft, if so my idea doesn't sound like a winner.

just got it back from my machine shop buddy. $50 later it looks like it will be a perfect fit!
the shaft hasto be turned down about .010" so that the squirrel cage will fit on it. this was on the new blower, just 1" to far up. so, the shaft was turned down, cut to length, threaded, and then the flats cut on each side of the shaft with a milling machine. The funny thing is that the little motor generates electricity when it turns in the lathe...sparks flying everywhere.

i have $104+/- in mine...it is brand new. i will see if it fits like new on monday. if it checks out, i would be happy to get one made for you guys for my cost plus freight...gas $ would be be nice too, but not required.

Here is is what it looks like. I am proud of this. It is not very often you can get brand new stuff for these things!

Horray, possible Group buy on blower motors that are turned! Lol.

Thanks for doing some more leg work again! Wish I had a machine shop local that didn't suck. The two that are local to me only touch engine stuff.

If there is a difference, it is nearly imperceptible. The actual motors look identical, excepting the shaft length.

If someone wants to figure something out, tell me how to rebuild the windshield wiper housings. I am at a loss for that, but in desparate need.

where the shaft comes through the dash and connects to the wiper blade. the thing with 3 screws holding it onto the firewall/dash.

It has some parts to it. One is the black plastic mount, which tends to crack. I sandwiched mine with steel on each side and bonded together with JB Weld. If you want to take it apart, the splined gear will come off, with some work. I would try to lube it up and not take it off, if you don't have to.

thanks for the detailed breakdown pics. so, what you are saying is you only used the sandwiching for the JB weld repair? the metal pieces were used as a form?

i believe that my machine shop buddy could make all of those pieces new out of billet aluminium (british). i have mine back in the rig now. i will remove and disassemble to assess the situation.

are the ww motors still available?

btw, my wife quit letting me use her ipad and bought me a nook to use. it is much more difficult to type on. please forgive the weak punctuation and capitalization.

I made two sets, one out of the alum., which is pictured and one set from 16ga. steel. The black plastic has recessed areas in the molding, where I smeared the J B Weld and then sandwiched all together. Made the metal sides alittle bigger all around and smeared the JB around the edges, to tie it all together. Removed the bolts when dry.

My thought on the alum. is it might make it too thick and would have an issue when mounting back in the body. I went with the steel ones. I didn't have any thin alum. laying around.
