I was wondering how you might clean the plastic from the blower assembly that sits in engine bay. I have seen people paint it, but i was wondering if anyone has success using a chemical or anything else? I started the process of restoring mine with the intent of lubricating the motor. The bearing felts were very dry and have started to wear the bearings.

Seems like just take it apart and do what needs done. I wouldn't use harsh chemicals like lacquer thinner on old plastic as it may dissolve. Milder cleaner like 409 and denatured alcohol should work good for degreasing plastic for painting.

There may be bearing/bushing for the motor. Or you measure/make and find something that fits. Sometimes the shaft gets chewed, so you turn it down and modify the bearing/bushing then either weld it it and re-turn it or press it out and replace it.

Brass or even better oil filled bronze is easy to work. The graphite plastic bushing stock would also work nice.

Cityracer sells the resistor if you want to fancy it up a bit after you clean the housing...

Cerakote has a good plastic restorer. I used the wipes from their headlight restoration kit, and it sort of melts and rehardens the plastic of the blower housing. Looks like new

I would try Novus first. Best plastic polish I have ever used.

Thanks for posting, I have to restore mine which was painted green by PO. May be best in my situation to just scuff it up and repaint black.
Not sure what I would use to remove paint from plastic Jon. Agree it’s probably better to just hit it with some satin or semi gloss black.
