Those of you with blasting cabinets, what general purpose media are you using, and where are you getting it? I used to know of a place in Fairfax, but can't find it again.

Granite - purchased at Blue Stem Farm & Ranch (Tractor Supply on steroids) in Emporia

Rob got me using black beauty coal slag... picked up from Lowe's. 10 bucks for a bag and does great. They have it at tractor supply too, make sure to get the fine there.

Whatever you do, don't use sand due to the silica

Lowe's stopped carrying coal slag not sure on TSC. Check out http://www.canfieldjoseph.com/blastmedia I called them and they were very helpful, I'm thinking of tying starblast.

I was reading the the EPA is trying to regulate coal slag due to the heavy metals in it.

I bought some at my lowes two months ago - Shawnee store. They said that some stores carry it, some don't.

I'll give the coal slag a try. BTW what "grit" are you all using? I'm thinking 20/40 just because it's in the middle, but my impatience makes me want to go with 12/40.

I tried the courser material, don't recall the grit, but it kept clogging up my gun, so I ended up tossing it.

Shawnee Lowes has 7 more bags.

Does anyone have the ability to shoot big stuff like a truck bed? It will take me a few months to make all the mods to the bed before it is ready to start the blast, prime and line/paint process.

I used eagle auto stripping. Shot it in epoxy then did my mods. Easier to work on clean metal.

I used an outfit out of Topeka who blasted and laid down a couple coats of epoxy primer. The bondo they took off was pretty thick in spots. I then went to work on rust repairs.

Do you remember who you used here in Topeka ?

Also do you guys have any pictures of your blasting cabinets. I've been thinking about building one as a project. I could really use it for about the last 3years now.
