Ive never seen one in person but have heard of a BJ 40 having a radiator flap that unrolls to cover the radiator for cold weather. I have a FJ40 I would love to find one for. From what I read the BJ's had them to warm the diesel up. my 40 I am always putting cardboard in front of the radiator during the winter. Finding a oem Toyota accessory would be cool!

I have one but I think it is from a 60 series, can't remember.

side not, sounds like the rubber washer may be missing from the top of the thermostat, causing long warm up cycles or a bad thermostat

You should change your screen name to unicornhunter. First it was/is the cartoon floormats. Now it’s the radiator screen!😛

A ‘73 backup light is easier to find!

Ive tried two different thermostats, both oem toyota. And new rubber washers installed. I could try a third. My radiator is a bigger, 4 row radiator. I can sit in my driveway engine be up to 165 degrees. Hit the road and comes down to 130 😂

interesting, the thermostat is supposed to hold antiboil in the engine until it hits temp then open and let cool antiboil from the rad in to replace it.
there is always a small amount of fluid transfer with the bypass hose
pics of what I have in a day or two

You could try reaching out to @crawlin cruiser - these radiator screens were common in BJ /HJ60's here and I used to come across
them often in an old Land Cruiser wrecking yard in B.C. ( no longer in existence ). Perhaps you could modify a 60 series version. I might still
have a set of the mounting brackets though no screen itself.

here's some pics of mine, it may be from a 4X series??
extended material 22 3/4" x 12 1/2"
the wind up is not working
it has the pull wire rope and brackets
not sure what the pull tab hooks to keep it unrolled
not sure if there weren't slide/guides on the both sides??? maybe someone up north knows, who's seen one installed
material is similar to older bikini tops, black vinyl on 1 side and fabric on the other
