Hello,

I hope you can help me to find a good answer. I have a BJ40 that is getting too hot. It is not the engine I expect as the radiator is nice and hot, the fan works etc. But e.g. the front axle and also the transmission is gets hot when I drive. What can cause this. It is not in 4 weel drive, the Free Wheel Hub is in 4x2. Do you have any clues what could cause this? Or how to search on this?

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

I found out that the body of the car was running hot, e.g. the cover of transmission felt like a toaster. And also the other parts next to this. When I stopped and felt at all these parts I could almost bake an egg (as we say in Dutch) on those parts. I did not experience this kind of heat before, the whole car, axle etc felt very hot. I did not dare to drive on with it. I had been driving on a highway for 10 miles with speed of 55 miles per hour.

I am afraid that this kind of heat, you can not touch it long with your bare hands is very bad for all the grease. How hot is it allowed to get?

I did not check the oil levels in transfer case and gear level yet, I wanted to change that once I connect the PTO, but perhaps that needs to be done right now. Hope I can find the time this weekend to do this.
