Help: '14 LX, using drill america 9/16" reamer and tap magic with both battery and corded drills, 1 hour into the first hole, got some nice chips in the first 20 seconds and progress stalled almost completely after that. Is it possible that the people who zipped through with this setup up all have 08-11 rigs and the knuckle for 13-15 is harder? I'm no machinist, but I've tried all kinds of pressure and RPMs

Mine is a 13. My experience with reamers was that they were very sensitive to pressure and RPMs.. and if you somehow dulled the edges the tool may be toast.

PM me if you want to try one of the bits I used. Can send it out Monday.

I used a cheap bit step bit from Princess Auto (Harbor Freight) that I modified. Cut like butter on my 2013 LX.

y’all are trying to go to big brakes, and I am trying to go smaller lol.
Thinking about removing my Wilwood 6 piston front and 4 piston rear setup…any interest?

When I am drilling metal, I shoot for the speed and pressure where the metal comes out in long srtips.
Check the flutes on the bit and make sure they aren't damaged. You should be able to go through in under 30 seconds.
This is the bit I used (sounds like the same one you are using)

Thank you so much for offering this but I have all four holes done now!

Thank you all for the quick feedback. Mud remains the best community. The reamer blades were definitely less sharp in the middle, so I think it was bad to start, or I'm just that skilled to have destroyed it very quickly. I ground down a HF step bit today and that got me most of the way. Finished with a 9/16" cobalt bit ($13) that I overnighted from amzn. All done now, holes look great, new bolts have almost no play. Test fit the new caliper and it is solid. Looking forward to finishing the job this week.

Clean that mating surface with a drill and a hub cleaning tool and strip disc before introducing beautiful virgin rotors, please.

Well done.

What pads are everyone using?

Some choices appear to be:
OEM
Akebono ProACT
PowerStop Z36
Hawk LTS - seem noisy/dusty

I'm a huge fan of the Z36s after finally giving up on finding TRD and trying a set.

I remember seeing this on here regarding TRD pads.

Here are the part numbers I saved in Notepad:
Stoptech Sport Front 309.13030
StopTech Sport Rear 309.13040

The TRD pads have the following markings: CEN 809 13030 and 89AA1432 GF 42 B13

Yeah, I had seen that, but the stoptech's didn't feel the same as my TRD's.

Even still, I like the Z36s more than I did the TRDs I ran for years.

I am using the Hawk LTS pads. They are good compared to the OEM pads, but lots of dust.

@bloc you are running OEM 16+ rotors and Z36 pads?

I will just go with that. I am reverting back to my 2018 OEM setup from Wilwood.
Trying to figure out all the parts needed.

Are you using aftermarket brake lines also? If so which ones?

Correct, OE 16+ rotors and Z36 pads all around. Stock 2013 brake lines.
