1st gen 4runner - need help finding lost power.

I have a lead on an 87 4runner that needs some body parts...grill and bumper at a minimum and the lower air dam as I would call it if I can find one. Downey is out of business so where can I find this stuff? Price and service is important to me.

I would forget about the OEM bumper and air dam (I think it's called a valence plate or something like that). Take it all off and put an ARB on it.

ARB bumpers are the best protection against j-walking field rats. I suppose they would also be good for red light runners.

As for the grill, any junkyard. Call around. Note, the grill is only the center portion. The rings around the headlight are known as headlight doors. You may need one or both of them too.

I think I just found a donor vehicle for the parts plus more. I haven't purchased either truck yet, just trying to make sure everything can work out in a reasonable fashion.

Toyminator.....If I don't go with the donor I'll hit ya up. Thanks.

I'm going to have to fix this.

At my local aftermarket/import parts house a NEW grill is about $40 and a NEW bumper is about $40 too.
The place here is called CERTIFIT.
Valance? pitch it in the trash.

It is the 4cyl, 5 speed, it has the altimeter on the dash(as does the parts rig 10 minutes from me). The parts rig also has the front end parts I need, a recently "gone through" 5 speed, and an engine knock.

The red one has 337k miles and needs a tune up. He said it lacks power. I don't remember my 85 being a real powerful truck anyway. It also has a lean you can see if you look at the other pictures I didn't post.

Needs some work. After looking at those three pictures and hearing that it needs some TLC.....without following the picture address, what do you think it is worth?

Nice running boards. :p

Looking at the front I'd say the metal behind the grill has been dented in some on the passenger side. The fender inner may also have been disturbed. Check the alignment and check for frame twist too. A small amount of twist can be adjusted for in the front suspension. A larger amount would require twisting it back on a frame rack.

Well I'm going to pick it up this Sunday. Needs a gasket between the exhaust pipe and manifold, a gas cap, and probably some plugs and wires. I think it will be as good as new after that.

A quick question though, how much power will the gasket leak between the manifold and exhaust pipe rob if it is completely blown out?
