insignificant

The plastic on my hand brake grip was deteriorating so I picked up a roll of thin leather strap from the hobby store and tightly wrapped it, then tied it off. Nicely covers the decaying plastic and gives it a certain rugged look. I liked it so much I did it to the rear door grab handle too. Makes it a little grippier.

hitch step

How about a receiver hitch step made from two pieces of square tubing (one to insert into the receiver, with hole drilled for the pin, of course and the other to use as the step?

I actually would like to do this on the sides of the vehicle and have steps under the doors. I don't really need sliders, but with the lift installed by the PO, lots of ppl have a hard time getting into my truck...

try replacing the dash lights on the dimmer relay line with led's . as long as you drill out the holes in places where the light will shine over the gauges . very long lasting looks good and brighter than standard bulbs .
setting up rollered tool tray in back of 60 with 3mm mdf silhouette bourd insert so the tools don't go walkabout put a thin piece of foam rubber over them to stop rattles.

Console Rattle

This is my $2.00 mod to stop the center console rattle. I had a couple broken areas around the mounting holes so I just added a piece of wood to the bottom of the console and washers where needed to provide a strong, rattle free connection.

AutoZone sells an air freshener device that looks like a small fan to clip to vents. It fits perfectly inside vents w/o the off and on knob and can be filled with other fragrant stuff and used forever

Also I bought two cupholders that clip on window trim and opened up center console and clipped them on the back of the console for rear passengers.

What did you drill out, exactly?

I replaced my green dash bulbs w/ LEDs and it works just fine on the guages on the left, but not so great with the speedo on the right.
The battery light, 4wd light, and brake indicator are all LEDs now as well--- work great! I tried the blinker indicators, but they were too bright- almost blinding. Still looking for some amber LEDs to do the water in fuel light and the glow light.

Nice looking light. I went for the super-long hardwired Hella one ($47). With the red lens (there's a white one included, too), it rocks for reading directions without messing with my night vision.

Sweet, I'll have to cut a gel lens for my lamp for night use, good tip!

What type of bulbs did you use? where did you get em?

got 'em at the local automotive shop- just a single LED with a base that matches the stock bulb.

they are super-bright when viewed straight on, but once they get reflected within the speedo.... they don't illuminate much.

I was thinking to pull the speedo out and lightly scuff the bulb surface to get more refraction, am also looking at the spedometer itself to see if there is somthing there that can be modified to let more light through.

3. if you haul stuff take out the rear carpet(60/2) and rinoline the back
4. i have not done the above, because i value the comfort of the carpet for sleeping on, but what i do plan on doing is taking out the carpet, laying down a thin pad the putting the carpet back so it will be softer

I've been looking for some sort of cargo liner to go atop my carpet, since it's in good shape, and I wanna keep it that way. The molded ones are $$$. I want something like my mud mats, with deep grooves, to catch all the mud and creek water that comes off the dogs.

No luck so far.

BUT, I did check out some pads / mats they sell at wal-mart that go under your weight bench or treadmill. Sounds like they might be a good candidate for going under your carpet. The interlocking foam squares are $18, and the roll-up pad is $25. I forget the dimensions.

And for those looking for something to top their air mattresses ... we just bought a Columbia double sleeping bag, and found that the bottom has elastic grips that go around an air mattress. Neato!

Got it from Campmor for about $80. Don't know how that compares to SOR. Just saw this one at STP for $30 too:
