Almost forgot - I installed a set of FJ62 mirrors and an FJ62 power antenna on my 60. Now the antenna doesn't get whacked off the truck by the brush on tight trails.

1. passenger grab bar from a Mitsu Montero (couldn't find a 62 in the junkyard). credit to Sandcruiser on that one... it fits perfect $5

2. running a direct vauum line from the ported vaccum to the distributor. i swear i feel the difference. cost: $.50 vacuum line

3. for those with a 62 rear anti-sway... the bolts that hold the link can easily be replaced with pins. quick disconnect. $5

4. front disconnects... this took longer to make, but was still cheap $20 or so

5. speakers with separate tweeters. best think i ever did to a 60 (and I've had a lot of them). the stock speakers are set so low, even good ones can't be heard too well. $85 on sale

6. replacing the nylon bushing that the 4 speed stick rides on. makes your tranny shift smoother. $8 or so

7. CelicaGT seats. even match the interior... kinda. $50 at PNP 1/2 off day (needs custom brackets)

8. installing a thermostat... this isn't really an improvement unless the PO took it out, like mine did. $45

Heat & Sound insulation: $20
Result:
No more floor heat, carpet stays cools to the touch, the only part that gets hot is the seat mounting bolts.
Can hardly hear the engine anymore, real quiet inside now.

FJ Africa - What sort of material did you use?

The dampening-type products out there (dynamat and brown bread, eg) are I think much more expensive than this foam. I wonder how they compare in sound and heat insulation?

Thanks FJAfrica

Headlight on buzzer

Lights-on alarm (the 60s don't have one... do the 62s?)

Best $7.99 I EVER spent on my cruiser. Hooked up in about 3 minutes.

the taskled.com dome light is awesome, I purchased another one for the cargo lamp, came the other day, now I'm running around to home depot and stores trying to figure out how to drill such a tiny farking hole, I have the bits but I need something smaller to lock down the tiny bit in the dremmel tool.

Going through and replacing any screws that are missing is also comforting, everything seems to be a philips head screw of some kind. I am still missing a few visible ones, trying to track them down soon.

I picked up an LED dome light a while back that SUCKS. Wasn't from taskled.com though. Direct replacement bulb with two little LEDs inside of it. waste of 30 bucks. Guess it just goes to show, be careful where you get your LEDs from :o

I'll be ordering a pair of the taskled.com LEDs probably next week.
