Still looking for that Rockhopper on FZJ80 information.
so, with 4" spring lift, no flares and little trimming can fit up to 40" tyres, does that mean a 2" lift, no flares and trimming will fit 35/36" ???
got some spare 35" claws, might try to fit these up to my 80 series (2" lift, flares and currently 33" tyres) and see how they look
Bluey
x2 on the Rockhopper reduced t-case gears. Post some info or price or something Rick.
x3... my 80 wants to be just like yours!![]()
OK ok, I will post a price for MUD guys when I get back to work next monday. Can y'all wait till then? ;p
Wait - 40s will fit on an 80 with a 4" lift?
Hi Guys,
I'm from Sydney Australia and managed to find this forum while searching for stuff on the 80 series cruisers.
Rick, which state are you from?
Chris
Yea, but not for a rockcrawler. If it was ideal we would see more of them without body lifts. The uptravel is very limited and crucial for 80's. IMHASSumption the less uptravel the more prone to tip overs?????
Also an ARB will mos def. not clear those 40's
Looks sweet!!!!!!!!!
ALSO, fellow mudders, he does not run a rear bumper setup, ARB, winch?... that most of us have, all these things make the can explain the different results on his truck
.
You are right, keeping the rig lightweight has a real effect offroad, and I have gone out of my way to do just that.
And just to stir the pot, IMHO, limiting the travel (in my case with bumpstops) has made the rig MORE stable offroad. Sure it lifts wheels and does not look so spectacular, but it keeps the truck level in most cases. Sure, an EXTREME angle will tip her over, but I reckon a truck with more travel will go first!
Flame suit on and ready.....
BBM Rick.

I think it totally depends on the situation. Too flexy= flop, not flexy enough=flop. You need to find the right balance with your vehicle and the terrain that you are in the most. Personally, I agree with Rick (as a rule), I would rather have the suspension set up for droop and get my under-carage off the ground.![]()
