So are we thinking gas and food in Winnemucca on Friday or just gas and eat what you brungon the way; somewhere...
Jack
Full tank from Reno/Sparks (or enough to get your rig 165 miles to Winnemucca). Generally it takes about 2.5 hours to get to W. That puts us there at 10:45AM - 11:00AM doing the speedlimit or about 70mph. We could do an early lunch in W.
Or if left to me it would be my preference to just gas up in W then immediately head North on Hwy 95 to Denio (about 100 -miles) and stop at the rest stop about 1/2 way on the Denio cutoff (Hwy 140) and eat a sack lunch; that would make our lunch stop around 12:30PM or so.

Works for me. Just trying to get an idea on how much food (besides too much as usual) to bring.

Too much as usual...isn't that the truth. I did however pick up a bottle of Pyrate and some Vanilla wafersMan, those paired well together.
Thanks Dan, like I needed another vice.
During my sage hen hunt a couple of weekends ago up on the Sheldon Antelope refuge it rained and the low was 26*. While Reno was said to be in the 70*'s that weekend. Just a heads up.
As of about fifteen minutes ago my Long Ranger aux. fuel tank is operational. I had to use a toggle instead of George's switch, but I will remedy that after the trip. I'm stoked about this mod. I'm going to bed, 0500 comes early.
Makes me want a pop-up trailer with a heater!![]()
I just hope I can get the fan quiet enough not to wake the whole camp.
It would suck for you guys to hear my heater coming on while you shiver in tents.![]()
Tents? What kind of self respecting Nevadan uses a tent? Sure the womenfolk need someplace to change and shade for the dogs, but not for sleeping.
Reminds me of a story from when I was 12-13, camping at Knott Creek this time of year. Went to sleep under clear starry night to wake up in the wee hours under a couple inches of snow. Grabbed the sleeping bag and went to climb in the truck, but dad had beat me to it AND LOCKED THE DOORS. I ended up having to bang down the hood on the '68 a few times to wake him (and everyone else in camp in the process). Then it snowed all weekend and I never saw any chukar.
Ah good times.
