#1 seed in the NIT at least we get home court all the way to New York if we can get there.

You deserve it and should be able to make a nice run at the title.

Glad to see you've abandoned this mode of thinking:

As good as winning the Not Important Tournament would be I'd rather see us decline a bid to the Nobody's Interested Tournament. I'd rather see them decline the bid and make the statement that this program is moving toward the NCAA's and doesnt accept mediocrity. I dont think winning a tournament that gives you the right to say you are the 66th best team in the country is acceptable.

Sorry SEC folks, as usual, the best conference in the country was confirmed tonight during Selection Sunday!!

The ACC leads every other conference with 7 teams in the tourney. :bounce:

And, truth be known, that number should be 8 without a doubt. FSU got snubbed big time and deserved a shot in the big dance!!!

That's a load. The SEC had two in the final four last year, the national champ, and I believe the NIT champion. Where was the ACC?

The selection committee has always been in bed with the ACC and thinks that it is the greatest conference and greatest basketball on earth. It was, but surely not this season. Their unjustified love for the ACC shined brightly by them giving Duke a 6 seed. They lost three of their last five, 7 of their last 11, haven't been AP ranked in weeks. The selection committee is in love with the ACC. No doubt they have been outstanding in the past, but I think the SEC is better, and the PAC-10 is better this season.

I don't care for any of the big conferences really, but the SEC took over last season. Fact is fact.

I still like that thought but that would never happen at any school to much money involved in playing those extra games especially when you get to play at home.

Were not talking about last yr were talking about this yr, where the best team in the SEC west only had 19 wins until the SEC tourney started and the only west team that even got in was a highly undeserving Arkansas. Theres are several teams who should have had a spot over Arkansas like Drexel, Kansas St, FSU, and Syracuse among others. The ACC is rated the #1 RPI conference SEC is only 4th or 5th. Having one outstanding team does not make up for 6 mediocre ones.

ACC vs SEC

Let's just see how the final 4 shakes out this year before we
delare which is better. I don't foresee an ACC or SEC team getting there this year.
I see poor old Miss is in CU's NIT bracket. Maybe the Tigers will get a chance
to show who has the better "weak" team from these confs. :grinpimp:
Hey Richard, I'll give ya a chance to win the $5 back if these two teams meet in the NIT. Straight up.

Alright, we'll see if they meet that might be a bet worth taking.

As for who makes the final four I have filled out a couple brackets thus far and have Fla making it in a couple and UNC in a couple. It all depends they can both be beat by teams in their bracket though and UNC has the toughest road so their chances dont look to good but they are both good teams with a chance to go all the way.

As Clemson55 said, my comment was referring to this season specifically, not last season. ACC = 7, SEC = 5. Fact is fact! ;)

Plus, the SEC's tally should really be 4 since Arkansas was a questionable bid. FSU and CU both have the same in conference record (while playing in a tougher conference) and have better overall records.

OK, but I like our odds, which was the original point.

UNC is in the toughest bracket as far as #1 seeds go.

The concensus thus far has been that the West is the toughest thus far among "the analysts". But then again, they do have anal in their name, and they are always wrong, so we will see.

And I think I missed a major point in my first post. While yes, we are focusing on this season, I believe the ACC is weaker this year than last, while the SEC is the same if not stronger. Hence, my hate of the ACC-selection committee relationship.

Like Gundy said, we'll know the final four in a few weeks. If the ACC reigns supreme, I'll come back and take my medicine with my tail between my legs. Until then, we'll have some good banter.

F the ACC!!! :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Poor ole UNC.:D

Just getting to the final four is going to be tough for them. They are probably the most talented team in the field and have lots of depth but their youth is going to make it a challenge. If that annoying little f****er Wes Miller and Reyshawn Terry can provide senior leadership like yesterday in the ACC final, that should help.

Getting past Durant and Texas and then Hibbert and G'town is a pretty big task.

How you possibly say the ACC is weaker this yr than last. Duke is down, UNC, VT, Clemson, UVA, and Maryland were all UP. The ACC is undoubtedly better this yr than last as a whole. The SEC is maybe about the same although they got 1 or 2 less bids this yr then last so that lends faith to me saying they are down. As a whole both your statements are unsupported by fact though.

Theres no way UNC can get past Georgetown in my opinion, UNC plays fast but soft like a pillow Georgetown plays slow and extremely physical. Georgetown will slow the game down and pound the ball on UNC.

Dude's trying to smack talk ACC / SEC hoops from CA. That says all you need to know right there...

Do they even play bball in Ca outside of UCLA? Long Beach St might go further then UCLA.

Gotta problem with basketball in CA? And yeah, Long Beach has a chance to beat Tennessee, but I think Cal Poly should have beaten Long Beach (I was there). LB got some lucky calls and lucky breaks, but CP was the better tournament team. If LB can play better than they did on Saturday night, they can do it. Aaron Nixon is a beast.

I'm not so sure about LB going further than UCLA. If Afflalo can get back in his midseason groove, they will be a dangerous team.

As a whole, I see your statements unsupported as facts as well. The ACC being better, and the ACC appearing better by those teams having better records are quite different. They do play eachother almost exclusively for three months. Anyways, I didn't come over here to talk s***, I came over here to talk basketball. You can see it your way, I'll see it mine. I've avoided this thread for months because I knew it would take too much of my time, but Madness is about to start, so it's time to jump in. And the SEC is 4th or 5th in RPI is a bunk argument too. The RPI is not 100% computer calculated because it considers the AP top 25 as part of it's calculations, which are voted on by men, so even RPI is not without personal opinion or politics, IMOP.

All that really matters is the next few weeks.

Right on, it won't even take a few weeks. 3 days and it's on like donkey kong!! Some low seeds will be going home early just like they do every year.

It's all good, stick around and talk some smack!! This is one of the best times of the year in sports!!

If you're gonna talk smack though, direct it to the appropriate party - seems that a lot of your rebuttal is based on statements originally made by Clemson55, who by the way, was right on the money!! :grinpimp:

Oh, if you're up for a little wagering on the side, I'll take some action on that UT / LBS game. Pearl will have his boys ready and will win that one going away. Remember C-LO, you'll be hearing about him that entire game, no matter how much of a beast Aaron Nixon is!! ;)

I'm picking UT in about 1/2 the brackets I'm filling out, I think its a toss up game for sure. UT is known for its inconsistent play especially in the tourney they should have been bounced first round last yr and you know it.

Even though the RPI is not 100% computer calculated it would take a heck of a lot of human error to equal 5 spots in the rankings, theres no doubt the ACC is a better league then the SEC just like pretty much every other one of the 54 yrs the ACC has been in existence. Even the down years when USC was still in the ACC (just for you Gundy :flipoff2: )
