With a foundation like that, this project should not be very difficult compared to what some of the folks on this board have gone through. I would not even care to do a frame-off on this one. I'd just go through it and fix everything up. Stay original as much as possible. I wouldn't even do a 2F conversion. Just fix up the existing engine. If you don't feel comfortable doing certain jobs, outsource it to an expert like Georg at Valley Hybrids in Stockton, CA.

Man, this is a project I would love to have!

What a find! I echo the sentiments already given... in that kind of original condition DO NOT ditch that F. Exhaust the easy fixes listed here before considering anything drastic.
