San Diego: Barbeque at the Park this Saturday

CABRILLO HEIGHTS COMMUNITY PARK

So Cal 80's members welcome. If any of you San Diego folks are free Saturday, some of FJC contingent and others are getting together for a friendly barbecue this Saturday. Demello Offroad is helping out with the food but it is a potluck so bring some drinks and food. Gas and coal barbecue will be provided. There will be some outstanding rigs to checkout. Dogs are welcome, so bring your Frisbee and come on out. It would cool to see some 80's show up! The link below has lots more info.

I'm picking up my new rear cabinets from the builder. If anyone is interested in seeing them and talking to the builder (my buddy Eric) he will be there at the park.

Don't let Stan see those drawers!!! They look great Scott.

Scott, I can probably escape from my chores for a little bit. What time do you think you will be there?

I'll be there about 11:00-11:30. My son and I are going surfing in Oceanside then heading to the park. I'll have extra food and drinks so don't worry about bringing anything. :)

Damnit dude, you post this on a FRIDAY? :flipoff2:

If i can finish up the 80 i am re-gearing, i will bring it by for some grub! :D

Sorry man, but I just found out my drawers were done and my buddy that built them lives pretty close to this get together I heard about. Figured some 80's-100's guys might stop by for a beer and a dog and talk Toyotas. I'd be honored if you stopped by, we would love to see the new rig, or the hmmm, 80 your re-gearing? There will be lots of wifes (bringing mine) so feel free to bring Judy. Call me if your coming late, late.

On another topic, I just found out the guy I sit near at work has a best friend who is part owner of Meling Ranch. You know the 20,000 acre dude ranch we drove past going from the Observatory towards Erindera on our Mex trip. He can hook us up with a good deal on rooms. We can go horseback riding, quading, wheeling, trout fishing or sit around the pool and drink Margherita's. It's a tough life but someone has to do it! :D

Make It So! I will be built and ready by end of May!

Those are sweet. Do they bolt to the truck? Price? Maybe after the TAX MAN gets his.
I may have to sell my Pelican boxes to afford this mod.

Hi Stan-

Yes they attach to the stock anchors and are designed to be easily removed. You can choose different woods, dimensions, hardware, covering etc. Each set is hand built to your particular demands or in your case, peculiar demands. :D

The height of mine were designed to allow for a standard ARB refrigerator to be mounted on top of the cabinet and still be able to slide completely out.

Come on down tomorrow if you have a few hours.

Scott

Finally assembly parts arrived about an hour ago (wheel bearings, seals, etc....)

I want to finish this thing this weekend so i wont be able to make it.

Glad you made it, that was some good eats, huh.
FJ's may be like rabbits but these rabbits know how to put on a barbeque!!

"A big Mahalo to FunJunkie for putting together one of the best barbecues I've been to in a long time. The park he chose was a perfect setting for the get together. Great parking lots of benches, clean restrooms, nice grass, etc. Oh yeah, and lots of really great people too!

If you weren't there and you like to eat: You missed out big time! The food was tremendous. The Ahi Poke Mrs. FunJunkie made was "da bomb". There was like five pounds of sashimi grade tuna, that's generous, thanks guys. The Paella Kokopelli made was not only fantastic tasting is was beautiful too, a work of art. Then there were the dogs, sausages, steak, steak and more steak. Deviled eggs, potato salads, fruit salads. Hmmmm, cookies, cake, crackers, chips, fruit. There are some pretty darn good cooks in this group. Dang, I'm ready for the next barbecue already."

A big thanks to Dylan at Icon for the advice on the suspension and it's always fun talking shop with Jason (Demello), Dylan and some of the other guys (names? sorry guys). These guys are so sharp and it's great to get there take on some of the fab and engineering stuff going on for our rigs. P.S. Got my cabinet/drawers and they came out awesome, better than I imagined. Thanks Eric (Sanab430)! I'll post some pics of them tomorrow.

Dylan Evans from ICON brought the new series 200 LC with prototype ICON suspension pieces (subject of an upcoming magazine article) This is gonna one bad ass luxury wheelin' machine.

My family including my dog Gibson had a great day. Thanks again to everyone who brought all the food, drinks and gear and then shared everything so generously. :) :) :)

Bluetribal and family approaching the lone 80.
