Does anyone have pictures of how they plumbed in the brake line and hoses with the Cruiser Teq backing plate eliminator kit? Curious if its better to run the brake hose from under the bracket to the top or from the top with the clip on the underside. Running it from under is a neater fit but the hose touches the top of the knuckle.

Also, the stock brake hose has a male end where it attached to the backing plate, with the eliminator kit a hose with 2 female ends is needed. OK to add a female connector to the hose or is there a source for a replacement hose with 2 female ends? Cruiser Teq did not have a hose that worked when I spoke with them.

Thanks for any help offered.

Your pic's are too small to help. Have you ask Cruiser Teq the question. I always try and consider things like rubbing/abrasion vs snagging on things. You can things like a split fuel hose as a rub guard so you can tighten the fit to prevent snagging.

Less fitting is always better IMHO, but you have to consider choices - buy a $200 custom hose to eliminate a $10 fitting works for space craft but everywhere else its like throwing away money.

I do it like @Pighead (hehe). Don’t run the hard line of the bracket on the knuckle at all. Go from the bracket at the axle tube with a soft line to the caliper. Future brake jobs, etc., now you don’t have to disconnect that hard line to remove the caliper and it removes 1 more connection from each side.

I've used stock brakes on a FJ60 "used stock front FJ60 frame to axle soft brake lines (part # 96940-33005; 2 needed) to connect the hard axle brake line to calipers."

May or may not be a good length for a FJ40 axle but something to consider.

Thanks for the replies and sorry if I wasnt clear. These brackets are designed to hold the brake hose and then have a metal brake line then going down to the caliper. Attaching under the bracket rubs but going from the top of the bracket doesnt look right.

I like the idea of just not using the bracket and going straight to the caliper, thanks everyone.

Ya we are saying ditch that bracket and hardline.

Appreciate all the suggestions and photos. I'm rebuilding a front disc axle from another truck, the backing plates were completely rusted out so I needed the eliminator bracket, just wasnt sure how to route the hoses and lines. Will attach the hose directly from caliper to hard line on the axle as in your photos. Thanks all.

I have seen people use that bracket to hold lites that turn with tires, works great when trail riding after dark.
I was thinking the same thing, wondering if the light housing would fit there...
