Hey all,
I'm new to the forum as I've just purchased my first land cruiser. Bought a 1991 80 series with just around 75,000 miles. As it's a used car I'm on heightened alert about ever creak and rattle I come across, but I'm pretty sure this one might be indicative of something worse to come. When the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear there is a momentary 100-200 rpm rev prior to the shift. I can only assume this is due to some sort of clutch slippage. (Please bear with me as I am not the most mechanically incline when it comes to cars. Wanna know how a helicopter flies? I got you. But the Land Cruiser is my first "Man, WD40, and Duct Tape" adventure). I've been reading a few other threads and have seen mention of the throttle cable, solenoids, or slipping clutches. I was wondering if anyone had some pointers on diagnosing the problem. Even a link to a thread you know about would be greatly appreciated.
