I'm considering buying a set of the FJ55 front patch panels from Australia that a couple of you guys have bought. I contacted the manufacturer and they said it would be around 3 weeks for pressing them and 7-14 days delivery which is not all that bad. Are you guys pleased with the quality? How did they match up and how was the install? Also, what were the measurements of them prior to install? In other words how much area do they cover?
Thanks

front fender patches

got mine from Ehsan here on the forum; put em on about 11 months ago and very happy; they are a bit thicker metal than the original ones on our 78; there must be something about the metal in earlier pigs being heavier gauge; a couple of pix after install, HTH,

Patch Panels

Lou,

They look pretty good. Does Ehsan sell these too? Do they have to come from Australia too ur in the US? ALso, did you overlap these or but them up even on install?

Thanks

I was reading yur build last night. Can you measure them for me? Are they sturdy?

Thanks

I still have the rears but sold the fronts since I found a mint set of fenders. The steel is the same thickness as what you had or have now.

Does anyone out there make patch panels for the ever so rusty rear corners. I know how many pigs out there are like mine with holes big enough to put your hands through. Or what have others done. (no bondo) I hate bondo....

I'm sure there are enough people in here that we should get every one together and have some 10 panels built or something to that effect to get the price down and keep some shipping costs down.

Well I guess we need to find a builder and start a thread. I'm sure it would blow up. I know there is a mud member in here that owns a sheet metal company builds a lot of sheet metal for 40s. I'll have to go find that post of mine. Question is who knows this member???

Howdy! Lots of guys trim them up and add a tail slider back there. I have seem some that were frenched up and in. Looks pretty good that way. I've seen it done on FJ60's too. John

Buying from Ehsan

Or at least I'd like to. Has anybody actually got a set of his panels and installed them? Lou, are your's from him? I have emailed him and I get a response about a week later. Is it usually that hard to place an order? If I can't get his I guess I'll go the Australian route or just make some patches myself. Anybody have a set stashed away?

yep, got mine from Ehsan and very happy with the quality and fit.........you might need to send him a PM; believe he is a Doctor and helps people in his town to have work by doing this;
