Has anyone (in the USA) ordered from PPD, Manta or similar from down under in recent months?

I am looking at getting a cheap 3" setup for one of my rigs (1992 HDJ81), but given the egregious tariffs that have been applied to some of my recent Partsouq, Amayama and HD Automotive orders, I am wondering how a higher dollar order will fare.

It looks like "steel" is a 50% tariff from Australia, while "auto parts" face 25% in addition to a 10% base rate.

It seems like based off the invoices I've been getting from FedEx and DHL, nobody has a F*** clue how to implement the different tariff line items, so every invoice comes out different than what I calculate and it's all over the place.

Amayama now has a "prepaid" tariffs option, where they declare and collect the duty beforehand, this seems like the way to go instead of rolling the dice and getting a different number depending on wether the poor bastard at customs had his coffee yet or not.

Lastly, if exhaust is going to come out like $2k usd, for cheap PPD setup, do we have someone stateside fabricating bolt-on kits for 1HDT?

Seems like your local exhaust shop could do decent business turning that into a kit and selling it online if they were interested.

I mentioned this to them, we may experiment. My next truck (93 HDJ81) is due for an exhaust setup too.

The goal would be cheap, durable, three pieces (easy to ship) and bolt to the factory hangers.

Either in-frame like manta or side dump.

If I end up trying to make a kit, I will need a few folks to buy and test the first iteration. Probably offer it at cost until I figure out the kinks.

That would be really cool. I always love to see new options for parts like that, especially when they're made "locally" and don't have to be shipped in from overseas.

I don't see you getting a great product for $500.

There's loads of opportunity for improvement over the factory exhaust systems. Both in performance and clearances.

Manta were always just a low budget aftermarket product. There's better offerings.

3" all the way to the rear is do-able but getting flanged ends over the frame is tough.
V-band flanges make it much easier.

Its possible to run from the bell housing to the rear exit with no bends greater than 45⁰, and keep it all tucked up above the underside of the frame.

Using a good flexible joint between the downpipe, and frame mounted piping is critical. The diesels shudder quite bit on shut down in particular. Without a good flex joint (long is better than short) the exhaust will rattle and/or tear itself apart
