ARP head stud "kit" for the 1FZ-FE

I've got the 2JZ stud kit in mine with 15k miles and no issues.

My understanding, after doing research on high strength bolting, is that as long as the threads are even with the top of the nut you are ok. You can verify on a number of websites. The long and the short of it  is the first few threads of the connection hold by far and away the most hold down force, the amount held by each thread thereafter is reduced as you move through the connection. Again, this is my understanding and I am not a structural engineer. I am sure some of the PEs on this forum can set us (me) strait...

Anyways. To the OP its been a year. Hows the headgasket holding?

So far so good! I don't have a ton of miles on it since the head work (maybe 8k) but it still runs like a top. Very happy with it.:)

What is the difference?
I think the only difference between the "kit" I posted and the complete 2JZ kit is that mine has larger outside diameter washers. I just matched the diameter (as close as ARP had available) to the stock 1FZ washers - IIRC, the 2JZ washers were quite a bit smaller OD. I figured it couldn't hurt to spread the load as much as possible, and the head is machined for the large OD anyways...

@Azca, I understand it the same as you (as does the ARP rep that helped me...) Any thread above the nut is just for decoration.

Thanks for this info. It looks like buying the supra kit from Amazon and these washers ala carte from ARP might be cheaper. Thoughts?

I got my m11x1.25 thread Chaser from Jegs it was still 42 bucks and had to add shipping to that.Yeah I got it encased in a frame with glass figured it was precious metal ,exotic mined on the moon.might as well be for what I paid for it and it is oddball size for sure everybody has m11x1.5

That sounds like a great option. As far as being cheaper, that just depends on how savvy of a shopper you are.;)

I just bought the 2JZ head stud kit (ARP part number 203-4205), as well as some of the separate washers, #200-8707. When it all showed up, the washers in the stud kit were exactly the same size (7/8" OD) as the washers I bought separately. So, there doesn't appear to be any need to do anything different than the 2JZ kit, if mine is any indication.
