Read a post from a member in the 60 forum about a site called Trail-Gear Inc.
Was checking it out and noticed they have alot of mini truck parts.
My daily beater for work and hunting is a '94 4X4 hilux.
I've been milking a bad caliper for about 30,000 miles. Totally rusted up with jammed corroded puck. It burns off the pad in 10,000 miles.
Anyhoo, saw these calipers on the site....

Any good? I know it can't be as good as OEM but they're only 99 clams a piece.:hillbilly:

I would get some OEM remaned calipers from a place like carquest or Napa... some remaned stuff is awesome.... I never like the knock off stuff... Reman should be cheaper too... but if you go that route just do yourself a favor and make sure they aren't made in china!

the ones in the picture are v-6 calipers. the v6 ones have ribs on the outside of the case.

the 4cyl ones have 2 smaller pistons. the 4cyl ones have a smooth case.

i suggest you buy the v-6 ones from napa.
both styles will bolt right on.
unless you break off the bolts in the knuckle then your screwed.

Yup, just go to NAPA, get some reman'd V6 calipers, loaded. Shipping on calipers ain't gonna be cheap, they're kinda heavy.

I read somewhere that around '93+ or so all the mini-trucks got V6 calipers, whether they had a V6 engine or not.

Thanks for the suggestions mudders.
I thought about NAPA but then saw these. I guess i'm gonna give the local NAPA guy a visit. Rather have a rebuilt set than some Chinese garbage.

Oreilly Auto or Auto Zone should have them for $35 a piece plus life time warranty.

It appears from the catalog that 08/1988+ 4cyl and V6 are the same.

Which catalog? Just curious, cuz my son's old '89 4Runner had 4 cyl calipers on it, but who knows if they were original, since it had 150K of hard miles on it when we bought it.

Toyota Fast Moving Parts Catalog.

It appears that up until Mar 89 they ran 4cyl calipers on 4cyl 4Runners, and they didn't change to the V6 calipers until the next model generation. V6 Gen1 4Runners had V6 calipers starting Nov 87.

So, Gen3 Hilux, and Gen 2 4Runners all had the larger calipers regardless of engine.
