My friend wants to go to Pick-N-Pull tomorrow, but since I doubt there will be any FJ60's in their lot, I wanted to know if there are any other cars or trucks, other than the 62 that share parts with the 60.

He says there are a few 80's Yota trucks and 4Runners on the lot, do those have any parts that are interchangeable with the 60?

I'm kinda looking for these parts if I can come across them cheap:
- Dome light lens
- Left and right tail light lens'
- Transmission shift pattern for shift knob
- Passenger side rocker trim

If you can think of any cars or particular parts that are interchangable, please put a comment in here!

Thanks! :bounce:

Nothing that helps but, 80 series LC's rear diff will go in the front axle if it's a FF and will fit the rear also if it's a SF, the 4x4 Carolla wag has an inclinometer that's the right colors (at least the brown us pretty dang close) shifter balls will likely be the same.

Check the PNP inventory deal on the websight. My buddy was nice enough to tell me before he went the other day that they have a 62 on the lot, of course since it's there and hasn't been stripped raw yet I have no $$$ to spend.

Side markers, window cranks, HVAC knobs, VSV's and other small suff are all avilible from early 80's Corolla's and Celica's

Sorry I can't remember the years and/or models but some Toyota cars will have the dome light you are looking for.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I think my main goal for today is to get a new dome light, I'll keep an eye out for other stuff though. My friend found a rare methanol gauge cluster for a VW Jetta last time, supposedly its worth some decent money.

In my experience the PNP inventory deal is completely useless. None of the cars listed were where they were shown and half the stuff on the lot didn't show up.

EX They didn't show any FJ60's I found one. They didn't show any Monte Carlo's I found three (with rotors and calipers), they didn't show any Eldorado's I found four (with rotors and calipers). All the Cherokees were in completely different locations than their inventory showed.

Could just be the local lot though.

PM me. I'm local (campbell) and I may have the lenses and the rocker trim. I just need to check my garage when I get home.

That dome light lens is about $5 at your local parts counter. Not worth the gas to go anywhere else. I just bought one.

I think its very common....any time you go out "there" its best to walk around and look.

If you ever want a diesel swap: the engines in the older Toyota forklifts and Coaster busses are the same as in the 60, which is the 2H or the 12HT. The fan of the older Hilux also fits in some 60 models.

I'm sure there lots of stuff! I went to P&P a decade ago and bought a deluxe 4runner intermittent wiper control for my base model PU. It fit perfect. When I bought my 62, I installed it, and it worked perfect(same plug).

Yeah but if it shows a cruiser in the inventory I'll waste the $2 and burn the gas to get there. And like you said there's always something you need weather or not it lists it.

There's always stuff off of other Toyota rigs of similar time periods that will fit on our cruisers.

Every other month or so, I will go to the pick and pull with a 5 gallon bucket and just load up on metric, quality hardware (JIS stuff). Nuts, bolts, studs, brackets, etc. You never know where and when you might need something that Toyota might provide from another platform.

Total Failure

So my friend and I set off from CCOC to go to P&P this afternoon, I don't know if any of you guys know the roads around east San Jose, but we completely passed Monterey Highway, and continued driving down Capitol, then we realized that it wasn't Capitol anymore, at this point we were completely lost, and of course my friend's iphone picks today to crap out on him so we don't have any maps.

To put it simply, I was lost in the ghetto on my second day driving with a manual trans.

Eventually we gave up on going to P&P, all we wanted to do is get home. By that point, rush hour had began so it made my job even harder  but I guess there's no better way to practice driving than in traffic.......

My friend was a big help, although he dosen't have a license yet, his car is a stick. I cant say how many times he save me from stalling.

On a separate note, after dropping my friend off, and talking with his parents about how to go about going to the metal supply yard, and possibly P&P tomorrow, I got back in my truck, and after no more than 3min sitting with the engine off, my temp gauge was in the red. I nursed it home using higher gears when I could, and had the heater running. It cooled off fine when there was air running through the radiator. Although the gauge does read a little hotter than what it really is (PO checked it with a thermometer) should I consider an electric fan?:meh:

Nah. The stock cooling system is excellent when it's working. Best bet is to track down which part of the cooling system isn't working as well as needed and work on it. There aren't too many parts to the cooling system, so shouldn't take too long to figure out. Start with the easy stuff first (belt tight enough on the water pump?), and work your way to the harder/more expensive things.

Beno is also spot-on. Never hurts to have extra hardware. I do that every time I hit a P&P as well. (Also, if you end up needing parts to fix the cooling, he's the man to talk to...)

Both of the front door handles on my 60 were broken. I picked up some black plastic door handles from an 80's toyota pickup truck. They didn't quite fit because of the plastic moulding on the back of the handles...a little bit of dremel action on the handles and they fit great.

I can't talk to the diesels but the 2F gasoline engines used in forklifts are not the same as the ones used in automotive applications, I spent a half hour at the Toyota Fork lift shop talking with one of their techs one time about it.

So you're worried because the gauge read hot when the engine was turned off/just after you started it after a short stop following a long drive? Just want to be sure I understand the issue.
