Are There Any Other Cars That Share Parts With The FJ60?

Basically yeah, except I checked it with the key in the ignition in the on position, not started. I was driving for about two 2 to 2.5 hours in a combination of stop and go, and ~45mph 4th gear, with some medium traffic. I turned it off at his house for a few minutes until I left.

Its probably nothing, keep in mind though its my first car, and this was its first real road test.

I'm pretty sure all of us see that under similar conditions. I'd be worried if it were hot like that when moving down the road or stopped with the engine running for a while. Good on you for paying attention to the gauges, though. You've got a nice rig!

DO not waste your time and money on an electric cooling fan for your radiator...aks me how I know

After you shut off a warm engine and re-start it with 5-10 mins the temp gauge will read hotter. The engine heat soaks in and gets a little warmer. And then it dissipates.

Check for air in the system but don't be too worried about it

In the summer when it's warm out mine will go into the red as described. After starting up, waterpump moving coolent, it cools right back down. No biggie as long as it cools down quickly.

Alright that's good to know. I'll have to drive it a few more days to really get to know the habits of the truck.

Getting it out on the road for the first time today gave me a chance to get a feel for the truck and learn its quirks. I noticed that the steering has a good amount of slop it it, and it likes to pull to the right a little. I already know that I need to get the wheels balanced and possibly aligned so that solves the pull to the right for now. I'll have to look into the steering sometime soon; its not anything major, but I like things feeling right.

I would suggest a good inspection of the front end parts ASAP if there is alot of slop in the steering. I had a new to me 40 and the steering link broke when I was going down a very steep hill. It is hard to stop when you have no steering, trust me. You would think that the brakes would work just as good but when you are careening down a dirt road with embankments and you cant steerr...anyways just check it!

Also, doing an alignment is actually a very simple process that you can perform yourself and save a hundred. Just get a big pipe wrench and a can of liquid wrench and start spraying your bolts now. Do a search...

I'm sure there lots of stuff! I went to P&P a decade ago and bought a deluxe 4runner intermittent wiper control for my base model PU. It fit perfect. When I bought my 62, I installed it, and it worked perfect(same plug).
