Here's a nifty idea, call ARB and ask them  :flipoff2:

Well the two retailers I called so far have given me contradictory answers and I didnt get through to ARB when I called today. Thanks for your help though.

I went to check out the Norcold 45s at my local Camping World. They had three of them at $648/each for "club members". Club memberships are $20/annually. I ended up ordering an Engel 45 from 4by4connection for $658.

Anyone heard of Taylor Made?

A local marine salvage has a Taylor Made TFP14 chest type that is unused. It is 23" long 13" wide and 16" tall. He wants $300. Says its only DC but I could use a converter.

I want the big Norcold like Dearborn because I travel with a caboose and have extra interior room. I will keep an eye on the Engles too.

Just scored a Norcold on ebay for $281 delivered. Kind of a funny transaction. Not quite sure of the model but the size is stated at 24x14x14. I think it's an older model "not physically perfect" but then who is.
What kind of power hook-up do other run and what are the slide options?

whatever I'd get, I'd make sure it can run on Propane...

edit: errr.... of course, I would not recommend running one on propane inside the vehicle...

Good deal from compactappliance.com, free shipping and 5% off at the time....

Great prices on the Engel stuff... I can beat them on the actual fridge/freezer unit, but not on the transit lock and covers. I am going to order my cover & lock from them today :D

My ARB cooler is on its way :D

So I think I am going to order the transit bag from compactappliance.com, just trying to decide if I need the transit lock... Any comments/ideas?

Photo...did you order through the USA Waeco site? My buddy just ordered from them.
Seriously...ONE MONTH WARRANTEE???

I really like the Waeco CF60...but they don't import them to the USA.

Why not get the slider from sleeoffroad? The transit lock's nice, but the slider seems nicer. It's a few more dollars (if I recall the prices correctly), but it might be more practical.

compactappliance.com sell transit bags for less than what you can get them for? damn...I've been planning on getting a bag for mine. Might as well get it from them.

do these things really freeze things / make ice fast?

I got a 42 ARB from them last year -

Use it all the time!

It is awesome -

It is hooked to an Optima Yellow top in the 60 / 40 never draws the battery down -

Will keep ice cream perfect -

Holds tons of beer

LOVE IT / BUY IT

You will never regret it!

During last year's 80s Rubicon trip, I had mine turned down a little too much. By the end of the first day, my water and soft drinks were starting to freeze.

Temperature control/on-off switch is a knob that allows you to control temperature. 1 - cool to 5 - freeze. I had mine set at 2 at the time.

It will freeze.

In normal operations, I keep mine set at 1 or 1.5 most times. I also keep the thing running pretty much all the time in the summer. I have an Optima blue-top in my rig -- so far, no problems with draining the battery.

I left my 42 qt Engel on 1.5 - in my Tacoma with a yellow top for 4 days at the airport parking last weekend. Got in the truck and plenty of battery power. Thanks for the cheaper cover link this will help when the outside temps get over 100 this next couple months.

The Engel is the best mod money I have spent
