Hey, this is great! Just discovered this thread and very interested in the VL. I may have missed but do we know who the VL and JR compare? If the JR is similar I would go with the JR to save. I tried to the code, I am assuming it's not active yet?
Thank you, kind sir!

Code delayed until the 21st and will go til the 31st. If you have a trip this month and have a deadline, you can call Lu at the number above to order by phone before then.

I’m still waiting on info on the TRs, generally speaking the VLs are constructed of metal and the JPs (old TRs) are plastic. VLs are chest-style that are designed to stay in place, while JL/TRs are supposed to be more portable. Without looking, my guess is the VLs will weigh more for the same capacity. The new TRs also come with wheels, which I am waiting to find out if they are removable.

They both are plenty sturdy, even the plastic constructed ones, and they both share similar components including the SECOP compressor. All IceCo fridges run on Secop.

I think most of us are waiting to hear more on the TRs before we decide, and waiting to see prices finalized (including for the iCooler). Hopefully we can have a lot of these questions answered before the 21st! As always, you guys will be the first to know.

Thanks for the info. I just looked at the weight differences and the JPs are about half what the VLs weigh so I think I will go that route.

looks like their website is down. Can anyone access it?

sweet. back up

For comparison purposes I would be interested in the weight of the 35L-52L expandable fridge.

Don't need a step by step breakdown ~one weight for whatever combination of parts.

Found it:
~50lbs for the base model 35L roughly the same as the VL45

Looking at the VL 60 dual. Still have this group buy up?
Yes I will double check again tomorrow but last I checked the coupon is supposed to go live on the 21st. Thanks for the interest!

Been lurking for a bit in here and very interested in the group buy. I appreciate y’all taking the time to set all of this up for everyone. Do you know if the expandable vl35 or 46’s will be available for purchase with the lids this go around. If not I can get a 45, but trying to keep things a little smaller if possible. Thank you.

I am also interested in this group by. Had my eyes set on the JP50. But now they are updatimg to TR series. Still waiting for specs on those. I will go with which ever is most similar to the JP50.

And also, thanks so much to sharpecat for making this possible!

Thank you, and i appreciate everyone's interest as well as patience to make all this possible.

Expandable starts at 35L, and has 2 optional lids; one is 7 L and one is 10L, which translate into either 42L or 45L. You can also get both lids for a total of 52L, which will give you the ability to change it back and forth from all options mentioned. If you do want the expansion feature, then you save about $80 bucks if you buy the 52L (which includes both lids), rather than buy the 35L then add both lids separately.

Thanks bud!

From what i am told the JPs are out of stock or discontinued, and the TRs will replace them. Still no info/specs on TR, but i will send Lu a text and hopefully he will get back to us soon. I mainly just want to make sure that coupon is still going live tomorrow, and if not i need to keep everyone posted in the case of another delay.

Thanks!

I love mine. Best bang for your buck if you ask me. Worth the money for sure.
Thanks for the insight bud. I am very happy with my VL 45 as well, which i imagine is exactly like 60 but smaller and 1 zone; only thing that I miss sometimes is a separate freezer for ice cream, like the duals have.

Long run I may run a GO20 as my portable/awning room fridge, and double as a freezer when I am not camping outside or away from car.

Are you running it full time? Constant draw off a dual battery setup or?
Headed out to the desert to get away from people and it'd be pretty awesome to not need to go into places for ice.
I only have 1 battery so I use a Jackery 160 to keep it powered overnight. I can’t comment on dual battery but I can tell you that it uses around 6-7 watts when idling, and 60 watts when on full blast. It does not stay at full blast for long before it gets to set temp and go back to idle/6w. Even on full blast it’s pretty quiet, but this is my first portable fridge so I have nothing to compare it to (except Coleman electric cooler that was 60w full time and never got “cold”).

Coupon code still not active...starting to feel skeptical about the follow through and and lack of communication from iceco in general. I’ve texted Lu multiple times trying to place an order with no response.

It seems like he is a one man show trying to run an operation that is out of his league.

Sure, he says 5 year warranty, but will he be around in 5 years? He can’t even organize a group buy code to start oh time or pick up the phone...
