If we're trying to find the consensus, my vote is for the most difficult trails. That being said, I don't want to scare anyone off. I want everyone to feel comfortable and have fun. It's just that I haven't had a real opportunity to challenge my rig:D

I agree. I can't remember if there are any stock rigs coming (and I am too lazy to look through 5 pages to find out).

Looks like we may have to camp at lower coyote in order to have the required fire.

I would double check the Truckhaven rules. I don't think you need a metal ring/container there. There is nothing but dirt everywhere.

I search for hours tring to find the regs on fire ring requirments and came up mt. I only found articles that referenced the need to have fire rings and only inside the park (Anza Berrego).

^ Same here, however I found people saying "I found a camp site and made a fire pit". I don't really think there are rules for Truckhaven other than the common courtesy stuff. i.e.: "pack it in, pack it out".

BTW: There will be some stock rigs with us.

Brent and Mo:

Thanks for the generous offers to get Sputnik out with us. I actually broke my rails while taking them off (don't ask), so I will be unable to take Sput. Wish I could though as it is the coolest thing ever!

LOL! I think lots of us broke at least one side of those rails trying to saw off the rusted screws (even after a couple of days of PB Blaster!).

Offer is open to anyone going on the trip. Just have to come by this evening to pick sputnik up.

So how does everyone feel about option 6?

Option 6. I guess another option is to run Truckhaven first (have lunch somewhere along it) and then head over to Lower Coyote after that to seek wind shelter for camp. Then hit Calcite mine on Sunday Morning.

This way the stock rigs can have some fun in Truckhaven as it sounds as though Truckhaven can be as hard or as easy as you like. Then we can head up Lower Coyote to Sheep's Canyon to camp to seek wind protetion and have a for sure fire area. I thought Sheep's Canyon was a beautiful place to camp when I was there a few weeks back. It looks as though our group is slimming down in size, so we can always add more trails if we are fast. I also would like to do some good wheeling on Sunday if anyone wants to join me (maybe some of us can go to some mroe difficult trails on Sunday if we choose.

A trip to Anza-Borrego. :)

Plan sounds good to me. We can drop into Palm Wash (or one of the other washes) from Calcite Mine Rd. and drive over to Truckhaven that way, rather than driving the S22 to Truckhaven.

I'm going to tie an orange t-shirt to my antenna to help locate us Friday night. Look for a black 80 and a silver FJC.

I enjoyed mine stock for a year! It went everywhere I needed to go w/o any problems. Makes me appreciate the mods more I think.

Easy yes, but I just noticed it and could not resist the urge to be random:rolleyes:

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.

Brent, Could you leave Sputnik on the side yard, in the event that I can go, I'll take good care of her and bring her back.

Not a problem Stan. I'll leave it behind the gate and warn Jeanne that a mad stalker may be coming by!

ya know, the thing with the fire container in AB is to contain and remove the ashes (per a ranger) so a Sputnik with holes may not be exactly the thing that rangers would like to see..... (don't kill the messenger, please :) )

Stan,

We would love it if you could come out. With or without Sputnik!

I am very pumped about this weekend.

I think that I have almost decided that even if it is really late, I am going to come Friday night. The sooner the better as far as I am concerned.
