I'm wondering if anyone has purchased Slocruisers fj55 weatherstrip kit.

Restoration Body Rubber Kit--Years 1968-1973 w/Vent Windows - SLOCRUISERS

It seems a bit pricey although I haven't tried to piece together all the components and pricing from the official fj55 weatherstripping guide here on the forum.

I was just looking for someone's view of the quality and if there are any other alternatives? It seams like it would save much time of trial/error and research.

Thanks guys!

I'm glad you asked, I haven't bought any yet and it would seem his kit would take care of a major headache. Hope someone chimes in, as I have plenty of other headaches to work through.

Thanks, Ron

The entire kit was not in my budget, but I did buy the outer tailgate glass weatherstrip piece from John @ Slocruisers. I found him great to deal with. I also bought a refurb'd brake booster from him & got a core refund when I mailed him mine. Once again, he was great to deal with - fast shipping, responded to my emails and questions etc... I would definitely buy from him again. . .

I read through the entire weatherstripping thread as well trying to formulate a more affordable plan than the entire kit from Slocruisers. What I came away with was that the Slocruisers kit, while pricey, was the most complete, easiest solution. If you're a big DIY'er (most of us here are) you could substitute some less expensive pieces for some in the kit and maybe save some $$. The substituted pieces would likely require some monkeying to get them to fit - nothing else seems to be as "bolt-on" or as complete as the kit. Slocruisers also has a few pieces that you can't find elsewhere. . . . Once again, just my take away - I could be wrong about all that!

I bought the windshield gasket. cargo window gaskets, and both the upper and lower gaskets for the tailgate. That being said, I could not be happier with the results. Fit and finish were perfect and did not require any modifications. It was well worth the money to me.

I bought the entire kit. John is great. Only regret is that the windshield and cargo glass rubber does not work with factory chrome trim. Johns kit is the best option out there.

I bought the entire kit for my rig. there were good things about it and bad things. The hardest to install was the small glass on the back doors. Soap the s*** out of everything b-4 you try. The seal is really soft and has a tendency to pop out when you try to set them in place. the tail gate kit is really good, but the rubber guides for the glass are to small and don't stay in place. I ended up using guide out a dodge truck. the window felts take alot of feness and time. If I had to o in again I would have paid a professional installer. It was a pain in the azz myfriends. It look great now tho.
