Anyone own a Trailgater trailer?

The M100 needs paint and ideally I would like to run the same tires on the trailer and jeep and that requires an axle swap. Rather than start hacking up this trailer I'm thinking of moving to a totally modern trailer tha I can build up over time to something like an adventure trailer-lite. But I'm still unsure, I may keep the M100 and mod it.

Price?
You've already got the M100. The BASE price on that trailgater is $2500.00 TWENTY FIVE hundred dollars, for a box on wheels. No offense to these people but I haven't seen a one of these types of trailers that wasn't so overpriced as to defy description. I have a dual 5000# axle electric braked car hauler that weighs a literal ton with a diamond plate deck and I didn't pay anyway near $2500.00 for it.
You could do a lot of work to your M100 for the cost savings, even considering what you'd get from yours if you sold it.
Tent Trax, trailgater, etc ad infinitum are out of their minds when it comes to pricing these things.

HOLY SHI? you are comparing a TRAILGATOR to a Texas car hauler? My TRAILGATOR will stand up to any of AT's Horizon or Chaser models. I own 3 M100 series, 1 Horizon and my Trailgator, which I will put up against anyone trail for trail. The TRAILGATOR is AMERICAN MADE by AMERICANS, in AMERICA, it has the capability to be built like a cadillac or a VW depending on your budget. If you want to haul trash, its done, if you desire to go into the Rubicon, it will withstand any rocks the trail will lay out for it. It will look good at the RUBITHON or the EASTER JEEP SAFARI. but it will not fail you. It is purpose built, for OFF ROAD USE. ANd the price is as good as it can be. You choose. the tires, wheels paint or powder coat all racks or simple sides , you build it . It is a gem for the price.

Yeah, from a cost analysis why not? They're built for different purposes but that is not the point. The point is where exactly is the value for your dollar? Pound for pound I'd wager my car hauler probably has at LEAST twice the steel material, it for sure has twice the axles, rims, and tires, and I'd bet no less man hours in it's construction. Or maybe it does have fewer man hours. Maybe it's a more efficient manufacturer. Like I said before, most of the offroad trailers in the vein of the trailgator are basically a sheet metal and tube steel box on an axle.
That's not to say it isn't a nice trailer, I'm sure it is.
A basic Tentrax is $3000.00. As best I can tell for that money you get the fiberglass box with lid on a rolling frame and that's about it. On one of my vehicles I put an entire fiberglass tub, fenders, hood, windshield frame (brand new all) AND a rebuilt V8 engine for not many dollars more.
Not for me. I'll mod a nice 100 or 416 or build my own. To each his own though.
I was considering getting a Trailgater before I bought my fully outfitted M100 from a local cruiserhead. I did a bunch of research and was trying to decide between the Trailgator and the AT Chaser. IMHO, if you have the funds, it's a great trailer and should be more than up for any kind of off-road use/abuse that it might encounter.
WHATEVER, you guys have fun comparing quality to stupidity and well see you on the trail with your carhaule, and fiberglass shells.

Apparently the point went zooooom for you. It's highly doubtful you'd ever see me on the trail with my car hauler, but it IS possible you'd see me with my excellent condition aluminum diamond plate lidded M416 that I've got a whopping $600.00 in, and I'd wager it will go anywhere a trailgater will go.
I've learned a few things over the years and one of them is that when someone spends big money for something they will almost never admit that maybe it was money not well spent.
My mother is that kind of person actually. If it costs more it has to be better and if it costs the MOST well then it's just the cats meow.

I'm sure if you were somewhat handy you could certainly put together something for a hell of lot less than that what that trailer costs....but then again...it seems like a well made trailer, and may be worth every penny.
Some people can build a piece of fine furniture for $500 and a bunch of man hours, other people pay $5000 for it, some other guy waits until it hits craigslist after a few years and pays $1500 for it. So what??? It is worth whatever someone pays/puts in to it. I don't think any trailer manufacturer prices there product to just pay for materials. The Trailgater certainly seems like viable option as a off road trailer. This forum doesn't require that the users must build their trailer from scratch, and spend less then $XXX.
Points taken guys, all we need to do is agree, trailers are for finite purposes and each has its own base of operators, My business rents these trailers on a daily or weekly basis and I dont have to repair them upon return to the shop. Good luck to you all and enjoy the New Year. JIm
