Anyone ever tried out an aftermarket ignition system?

Why mess with rock solid reliability?

Actually, I'm asking primarily because of the EGR problems that LC owners suffer. I figure a stronger ignition may be able to reduce clogging of EGR simply because of enhanced efficiency thus less unburned fuel entering the intake. Just a thought.

The cure you are looking for is a V8. Actually, there is a thread going on right now concerning a 1fz imported from down south that has coil packs. Perhaps that's an ignition upgrade.

I'm just happy that mine runs flawlessly at 272k with no leaks and no oil consumption. Going fast was the last thing on my mind when I bought a landcruiser.

Keep in mind that the newest 80 is 20 years old. Who knows exactly how long it's been since the egr system was serviced on a particular vehicle.

Where in the world are you going to get the same reliable that you get with Mr T's stock system. If it's not broke, why would you want to fix it??????
