Any interest in Fj40 safari tops for FST bows

Shop is busy, and tops are not done yet, I head out of town on Friday so I am hopeful they will be completed by then. I will be back at the end of next month but really don't want to leave my 40 there while I'm gone. He is not making a template. Top has held up well but, in all fairness, I've driven it very little and it stays in covered storage when I'm not here. The craftsman ship is second to none. I have this guy make seat covers for my 40 and 70 series and his work is top notch. The Sunbrella material I am told is much stronger than what I used on my top and also UV resistant. My top is a bit stretchy so it looks pretty taught, I would presume the Sunbrella tops are not this way.
I will reply to your PM. Thanks.

I'm in as well. Black

Pm'ed Tan

I talked to Roma for a bit yesterday. The shop had materials on hand to build 4 tops, and he (Roma) is leaving Yuma Thursday, so the window closes to get these built pretty soon. The shop had his 40 for 3 weeks about 1 month ago, and never got anything done. The shop said the 4 would be done before he leaves this week, but he wasn't going to hold his breath. Shop owner expressed no interest to make a template to "mass" produce these, so sounds like Roma would need to take his 40 back in the future to get more made (if he indeed does get these 4 before he leaves). He wanted to keep 2 for his own trucks and had 1 committed buyer and 1 on the fence. I committed to take the fence sitter's place if he got off... All that to say, don't hold your breath for getting a safari top this round!

Not on the list or on the fence. Tan would not look good on my orange 1973. Black in Arizona even even at 7,000' is too hot. If there is a next go around with more color options like white would definitely be interested.

Just for clarity, I'm leaving town on the Friday.
ThatCableDude = tan
EWheeler = tan
Chungas Revenge = black
I'm keeping the 4th black top for my other 40 unless he agrees to make a few more. I have four 40 series and two of them have FST bows so I wouldn't mind having a Sunbrella top for each one ultimately. I will ask if he would like to make more, without my truck. I will be back in town next month and don't want to leave it there for test fitting for that long. When I fly back out next month, I'll be driving up to SAS so can easily bring them along if he agrees to make some in the interim.

Tops were picked up and shipped out. He ended up sewing a full width velcro sleeve for the B pillar hoop and next hoop back. I ended up keeping a black top and really want another one in tan out of the Sunbrella material so going to try to get the truck or at least top back to him at the end of July beginning of August. If anyone would like a top shoot me a message. With this timeline he can order different colors since I won't be pressed for time.

Appreciate any “Tactics, training and procedures” on the install. I’m ordering TROA bows unless I can find a set of OE or Metal Tech used. Looks straight forward..

I just got a quote from TROA (via ebay messenger because apparently they don't receive the messages from their website contact us form..........) for "some parts". I asked specifically for a price for (2) sets of door headers, and (2) windshield channels, I provided the attached photo/markup. I received a message back that the "3" parts I want are $600 + $150 shipping. I'm uncomfortable moving any further forward with this, in fear I ask them to double my order, and end up with paying double, but still only receiving "3" parts......

After going back and forth with Columbia and spending nearly all day on phone/chat with "tech support" overseas on some computer issues, I'm ready to bend over and pay any premium required for ANYTHING that comes with English as first language customer support.

The TROA appears to be 1 piece in the photo and in other pics members have posted on the forum. I really wish someone local could go figure out WTH is going on with Real Steel.....

Ok guys.. I will chime and hope that my input helps.
1. I ordered the product on eBay hoping that I had some small measure of safety.
2. It took longer than expected to arrive.
3. They may not respond to email but I found a number to a place in Miami. Called and called and they finally answered. I don’t remember where I found the number.
4. The channel that goes across the wind shield frame is one piece. You can read in my thread how I attached it. It is secure.
5. The door frame comes in 2 pieces. The top or horizontal piece and the B pillar or vertical piece.
These pieces needed a little work to get together. I had to do a little trimming and grinding but nothing major. The two pieces only had one attachment point. I added a nutsert creating a second attachment point in a second plane. They are secure.
6. The rear bow came too tall and had to be cut down .
In summary….very nice product. I have no regrets. It takes a little work but nothing you guys can’t handle. Installing the sniper was a lot more challenging.
Be patient… you are receiving a product from Columbia.
DM anytime.
