Any DIY bumpers or sliders kits out there?

Intrigued but this thread.

Captain Obvious:. Isn't the primary benefit of custom bumpers to improve departure angles? I like that Runner but it seems like very little that couldn't be accomplished with a roof rack and the spare tire tuck mod...amiright?

You're mostly right, however, some of us don't wheel that hard so we don't need metal armor, but mostly cost is the issue, hehe. I could put my wheel and tire on top of the roof rack, but chances are i'll snap my back in half carrying that 100lbs 18s wrapped in 33's up there. I need an alternative option to carry extra fuel for overlanding trips. Which my rig will be mostly used for, i don't want to put jerry cans on the roof because i don't want to have them stand up and create drag/wind noise, and i don't want to lay them down because it might leak. I need my roof rack just for my tent and other stuff, swing out tire in the back with auxiliary tank in the current spare location.

Boom. Appears you have to remove the trailer hitch with this particular unit, but you could just make a spacer and adjust the dimensions to bolt to the outside of it to keep it....if you make it yourself.

How did you save money buying a bumper for $1500 that you have to weld up yourself...? No offense.
