Frame pics are MOST important. Body parts can be trimmed & repaired more easily. Due to the poor factory design, the body mounts will most likely be stuffed w/ debris & rust so check those out. Don't worry about the rockers or lower rear sheetmetal as I'd trim that off anyway & replace w/ skids/ bumper. If you want to resto it, I'm definitely NOT the person to seek advice from :flipoff2:

Drum brakes in front discs?

I would say this depends on what you want out of it?

I will ask you this -how is the headliner?

In order to replace the headliner, you have to pull the windsheild and quarter glass and the rubber around the tailgate.

Headliner is $165 at SOR
Rubber to put all that glass back in is around $550

It gets better...

While all that glass and rubber is out, you may as well paint. How much$?

Most of the Pigs I have seen have pretty bad weatherstripping around the doors that also needs to be replaced @ about $40/door or $160.

Do the dash cap while you are in there? $50

Door panels?

Recover seats?

Now if none of that stuff matters to you, then it doesn't matter what the interior looks like. But just freshening up the appearance of the Pig to the point where your wife will ride in it and still have relations with you can be spendy.

And then there is mechanical!

X2 on the :princess: part. She still has a love hate relationship w/ the ol' girl. The pig, that is...:hillbilly:.

Went and looked it over last night but by the time I got there it had gotten pretty dark. Body is pretty rough.

Unbelievably the interior seats and headliner are in pretty good shape. Is vinyl checkered upholstery stock?

All windows are intact as well as weather stripping, although old and cracked.

The frame looked pretty good compared to my '81 FJ40 but I didnt get a chance to look at rear spring hangers. The springs looked pretty flat to me .... but where 55's eye level when off the floor?

The floor boards were gone and replaced with aluminum that had been riveted in place as well as all the lovely aluminum checker plate that wrapped around the bottom 1/8th of the truck.

I told seller I would give $500 for it if it has a clear title.

He said he bought it over 20 yrs ago and not sure where title is.

Told me I am welcome to search for title and if any problems adjust price accordingly.

How would I even begin to search for a title that old?

if he is the last registered owner, he should be able to get a form from DMV for a lost title, here in MT it costs $20 bucks to get a replacement.

check with DMV, almost certain he isn't the first one to misplace a title.
