sorry dont meean ta be short with ya the metal is fence posts. the mounts are aluminum roof rack mounts, i think there called quick mounts. i bought mine from spector some time ago but im told they can be found else where much cheaper. they are the shortest ones they sell i think 4in? if u remove the original roof rack your more then fine. they are very sturdy and this is the second rack i have made using the same mounts. if theres any more questions please let me know ill try and answer anything i can.

it is zinc coated. theres a row (least at my home depo) where these posts are and the hard ware is right next to it too. i think i spend about $70 total on this rack minus the mounts but i also bought a hack saw and blades cuz im a poor college student in wa and i bought all the bolts too. i really like the rack its very low profile helps on the gas milage and u can attach yakama bars really easy too.

mounts are called quick-n-easy...they rock.

Mike,

Good job. These look like struts used for suspending conduits/pipes/etc in buildings. You got them in the section where they sell fencing materials or in the electrical isle? Usually the fence materials are stored outside where the shrubs/trees are. Just clarifying for others who want to follow your route.

Thanks.

Ali

Anymore info on where to purchase the "quick-n-easy" mounts? My quick SOR and Google seach turned up nothing. Thanks.

Anyone ever use the NRS quick-n-easy mounting feet?

They look pretty stout, cast AL. Too bad they don't have a locking mechanism. Safetywire might work for that now that I think about it, can't cut .040" with a knife.

What kind of fence posts are those? That looks like yellow-zinc coated uni-strut...

Nice rack. Going to take off the factory one in the next couple of weeks and now I have something to replace it with. :D
