I can see you spent all the money on the trailer.

Dude... just wheel the 80. it's so much cheaper to get it to wheel than a 60.

rebuild knuckes - carquest parts
longfields
spring over - make your own kit
hi steer - dunno
2 lo mod
welded rear diff - free
locked front diff - aussie
wheels and tires -
cut the quarters
sliders and quarter sliders

I think you could do this list for more like $2500 if you are careful. A lot of the bobed 60's out there have this basic setup. Cutting everything available out of the wheel well and throwing some 34's on there sprun under is another option....

I have washed it twice and need to wash it again but it is starting to clean up nicely. The p.o. had it parked under a tree but the mildew is coming off. He also installed a heavier nap carpet that holds everything. I think he had a yeti locked in it for the past year.

I have a gear reduction starter and a fuisble link on the way from CDan. After that I will be looking to figure out the fuel issue.

I want to have the truck wheelable in time for the SCC.
I'm thinking:
rebuild knuckes
4.88's
spring over
hi steer
2 lo mod
NP203 doubler
welded rear diff
locked front diff
rear discs
sliders
wheels and tires

Anybody got 4grand I can borrow?

Pencil me in for the knuckle rebuild party... :hillbilly:

how much is the adapter? do you have to lengthen the front driveshaft and shorten the rear one?
Don't know the cost but I would guess in the 6-700 dollar range. Driveshafts will need attention.

Don't hate on Gramps' trailer:).

80's are ghey. Very capable but ghey.

Can I piece the knuckle kit together for less than $150 at Carquest? Thats what cruiser outfitters has it for now. Have you seen a good thread for a DIY SOA setup? Are you pleased with your slider setup?

Thanks

Yep, I'll help if Bull is gonna be there.
Thanks

I have a knuckle kit and some Marlin Seals I want to unload. Lemme know.

How much and does it include wheel bearings?

Nope, just the seal kit and Marlin seals, just got it all from Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters when I thought I was going to change gears.. I have some kingpin bearings that are new if you want them too.

$100 and not a penny more.

I won't be there tomorrow night so I will have them stuff at my shop. Send Del to pick it up and I will toss in the kingpin bearings.

For your goals you could probably re-use the bearings. Throw some marlin inner seals, upgrade the birfs and maybe inners and a gasket kit in and call it good. If it were going to see a lot of highway miles I'd do bearings, but for a trail rig I'd just re-pack and re-torque.

I've not read all that much on SOA's. I think some dodge spring perchs like I used on my rear axle turn are cheap and easy for perches. The cut and turn looks simple enough. I did f250 shocks in front, so you can check out how that turned out. From the looks of the web it seems pretty strait forward, just a lot of work. Would you use the OEM springs? I didn't get that good a look. Are they too flat to use? W'd?

For the money, I think Marlin's 68" sliders are the cheeze. I should have put a longer leg on the fronts of the sliders up into the back of the wheel well. The DOM is flexy enough that I bent the slider up into the rocker on my first trip out. Other than that, I'd do them over again in a sec. The only thing they have over the ones that I sold to barry is $250 and 100 lb's.

Jes let me know if you need a couple of Marlins seals I have got some spares.

Still reading. Quarter eliptical in the rear shouldn't cost a lot more and hasn't been done on many (any?) 60's.

Hmmm. That's what Woody is running on his 40, right?

Pretty flexy.
