Excellent. Bringing the wife, we'll be there at 6:30 am. fueled and ready to rumble. Kim and I are trying to shed our winter coats and have gone full Vegan for the month of April. We're bringing a spicy vegetarian chili and will bring the fixins for the taco's. May I poison your grill with some soy beef? :D We are going to leave about 8:30-9:00 pm tomorrow night so I hope you don't mind but I won't be bringing firewood. See ya tomorrow.

:bounce::clap::steer::cheers:

So you're going to join us for dinner...super! I'll go ahead and do cobbler for dessert then and just plan on three of us for breakfast.

Brent as good as the cobbler sounds we can't eat it. No sugar, no butter, no regular flour etc. Sorry, I know it will be great but we're sticking to our guns. Kim has lost 10 pounds since April 1st and I have lost 8lbs and we both feel better than ever.

See ya tomorrow.

Ok - good for you guys!

Butter...what butter...oh, the two whole sticks? That butter?

Perhaps the 3 cups of flower or the 2-3 cups total of sugar?

How about just the apples? :D

We did Mark. Hope your BD was good w/o wheeling and your rear brakes and rotors went smoothly!

Chariot Canyon was fun. Ran into a lady in an old Mustang about 2/3 the way down. She'd been stuck for 3 days and when we ran into Nancy (Park Ranger) she knew about the lady. All the lady was interested in from us passing by was whether any of us in the group smoked! She was desparate!!! What she was doing on Chariot was way beyond us!

After Chariot/Oriflame we ran down to Carizzo Canyon. I'd forgotten just how far south that was. Too much time on pavement. Ran it and had a nice lunch at the end. Kim caught a cactus thru her shoe so she and Scott stayed by the trucks while Stan, Jeff and I hiked around the point to view the train tressle.

Back out and we chose to hoof the pavement back to Coyote Canyon so we'd have plenty of daylight to hike back to the falls. In other words, opted to skip Seco Del Diablo. Falls were still running, but a tree had fallen right in front of the falls effectively blocking a nice view.

Back to camp for chips, dip, beer, wine and Wild Turkey. Cooked up some mean Carne Asada with the fixings. Scott and Kim stuck around the fire until about 8:30 and headed for home. Stan, Jeff and I spent a VERY WARM evening at Sheep Canyon. 8:30 this morning and already 85!!! So much for a cool evening in the desert before it got to warm for the summer!!! Uneventful drive home this morning.

Park Service really has made a smooth highway out of the rock gardens, relatively speaking. It's not what it used to be.

You'll have to beat me, but I forgot my camera, so hopefully Scott and Stan will post up some they took.

Did a quick inspection under the rig - had some diff oil on the bottom of the front axle. It appears to have come from the top of the breather. Is this possible?

Nice report Brent, I really enjoyed the run down Chariot Canyon that is an excellent trail. Much more challenging than Rodriguez Canyon for sure. I'll post up some pics tomorrow after work. The Occotillo's were in full bloom and Anza was looking very green!

Everything except the eastern end of Rodriguez can be done in 2wd with good clearance.

Did you say a mustang? The car or the horse?

Car!!! and an older one too! From what we could tell, she had her life in that car. Big wood box up top on a couple of roof rack bars. Scott noticed skiis and a bike in the car. Entire back of the car and passenger seat were crammed with stuff so the car was riding LOW. She wasn't exactly dressed for the occasion either!

We had no idea how she'd gotten to where she was or after we'd decended the last of Chariot, how she was going to continue that route. Park Rangers were going to check on her again after we spoke with Nancy at length about her at camp late that afternoon. Nancy radioed in, no new news, but they were going to check the area to see if she made it out ok. Stan and I chose not to run Chariot back up on Sunday morning to see for ourselves if she made it our or was ok.

If you've run Chariot, it's the little steep area with a couple of switchbacks about 2/3 of the way. You can begin to see the valley from where she was. We couldn't stop laughing about the fact that the ONLY thing she cared about was whether any of us smoked to bum a couple of cigarettes! Stan obliged. She didn't have a care in the world about her predicament, food, water, nothing - just a smoke!
