The 70 series looks more like a US inspired SUV with every update. The rear no longer matches the front.
I wish he had of weighed the rear end of the dual cab with its slide on camper and compared it against the rear end weight of the new troopy with all its add ons.
I bet there is nothing in it.

That guy annoys the s*** out of me...

Yes, he annoys the s*** out of a lot of people. But getting people to pay for your landcruisers while you make videos about driving them is quite clever.

What do you guys not like about him?

His smarmy, over exaggerated comments. And sometimes he looks like he is going to explode because something isn't to his liking.
To me he is a remnant of the old colonialist Brit(note his love of Landrovers just because they are Landrovers).
He just needs a short trousered short sleeved safari suit, slouch hat and little union jacks on his Landrover fenders to complete the image.
He is probably a nice guy and now lives not far from me, so maybe I will be able to confirm my like/dislike one day.
I still watch all of his videos, sometimes they are very informative.

Hello,

Well said.

His videos are indeed informative. However, I beg to differ on some aspects.

He said he is eager to cut his new Troopie's roof. In my humble opinion, that is the real reason why he ditched his VDJ79.

If only there was someone whos personality was a good middle ground between him and Ronny Dahl.

That being said..... I definitely enjoy that both of their youtube channels exist and I can watch long videos about diesel land cruisers!
Dont hate on the ronny! His photog only channel is amazeballz

I just checked that channel out. Unfortunately I must disagree with you there haha. I am SUPER strongly opinionated and critical since photography is my way of life / making a living and has been for a while.
I have already said too much, if I say any more about peoples time lapses of the stars with a light on in the tent then I will reveal how truly bitter I am

Here is what I got from the video......
The Troopy is basically an overpriced van ..... I actually enjoyed that part of the video. :)

I was looking at indoor/outdoor carpet for my troopy at home depot yesterday and couldnt decide what term to use when talking to the guy helping me. I ended up going with im building a camper style set up in the back of my....uhhh....van. :meh:

@AndrewHadji Even though there is no Cruiser porn on either yet....you can check out my webiste (in sig line) or instagram @handselreid if you have time to kill.

To his point about the attrition level of the 79, 78 and 76 series, that is, not much more than a 100,000 vehicles per year (per series I assume): is the sword of Damocles dangling over the 70 series line?

I know there have been talks in the past about its ability to adapt to stricter safety and emissions regulations (and that it recently got a lot of upgrades in these respects) but does the demand by mining companies and other industries simply string it along?

Although the 7* series is not cheap, it is the only vehicle available that is suitable for the big miners. There have been alternatives but by the time they have been repaired or modified to suit the conditions, it is no cheaper.
So as long as they keep buying them, their future is reasonably assured for the time being. Australia buys approx 1200 or so a month which makes it the biggest market for the 7* series(The Saudis buy more Landcruisers but that includes all the models)
About half the 7* series sold are for private owners in Aust.

Hello,

It appears he has never driven a 70 Series Land Cruiser with a 1FZ/1HD/1VD engine, all of which produce around 200 HP.

No wonder he reacts that way when accelerating.
