LKQ engines

JUST GOT AN EMAIL WITH A TRACKING NUMBER FOR MY A.A. ADAPTER....

Looks like everything is coming along just fine. I was back to looking for another motor and found a few more iron blocks.

I think I'm gonna opt for the iron block because I can snap my fingers and have one here.

I'm having no luck finding an aluminum block, or should I say, an aluminum block IN MY PRICE RANGE. Geez.

I found a bunch of 6.2 (?) and 5 speed autos? wonder if they'd bolt up? A salvage yard with less than 100 miles on them. Trucks fell off loading dock or transport truck or something. 2010's.
Thanks for stopping by my build thread! Your engine swap thread is good! Very informative!
I buy parts from LKQ from time to time, and I heard that these cars and trucks of all kinds come in completely running with no damage to be dissasembled. It sounds like the auto manufacturers are dumping them straight to the dismantlers as a tax loss write off. A way of culling the flock/inventory. Anyhow, the end user of the parts can benefit from this because how else can you get parts with las low as 10 miles on them? Crazy. :meh:

I wonder. Do you guys think this fan will be enough? I'd rather use this than the electric fan. I wonder if I can fill this fan with the thicker fluid?

Good pic of the engine. I'm glad to see the AC compressor is on the passenger side.

Wayne, you've been quiet. What ya been up to?

latest

I have a commitment to the 1967 Jeepster under the blue cover in the engine pic.

It's almost done; I tuned the carb and am installing A/C now so, I told myself I can't start my project until I get that customers done.. I met the North Texas Land Cruiser group last night at Pappa's BBQ in Dallas, cool guys. Had no idea it gets that organized. I brought the fam so we didn't stay late.

Another reason is I'm dead set on making a plug and play ecu for the I6, so I have to have mine running to test it. I am 85% done with the computer. The truck runs on a stand alone ecu, now I have to fine tune the trigger inputs and work on idle control settings. Then it'll be ready for the dyno.

It'll be great for guys with any mods.

And for the guys with the 1FZJ-FE with out any mods yet, but in the near future? :hhmm:

I've got a MAF if you need it...

PM sent.

Wayne, how are you going to hook up the speedometer?

The fan should be fine. If you talk to Ron Davis guys, they'll tell you to run a stock fan, over an electric, any day of the week. I run an LQ9 (6.0L) with the stock fan and a factory 80 radiator and don't have any problems...however, I did have a shroud built. Here are some pics...

OMG. That's like two days worth of welding!!! That's exactly what I wanted to do, however, the current radiator has a hole in it, so I have to buy another one.

Speedo, see I remember, but I have to look at notes. I'm pretty sure it's in that extension harness. I'll get back to you this weekend.

Jeff: what year is your ride?

oooooo, that's preeeety! THANK YOU FOR THE PICS!!! It answered some of my questions. Where did you get the battery tray.

Wayne, it's a 1/95.

Battery tray is a stock unit...my truck is a 92 and I think they came with the tray on the passanger side.

For the speedo...and I could be wrong...but isn't it driven by a cable that goes to the transfer case? Other than paying a local shop to recalibrate, I don't remember having to do anything to it. That said, I have a horrible memory. :)
