AWesome swap thread, I cannot wait to see how this turns out. I am in the process of swapping an L33 5.3 and T56 into a BMW and the next project will be an 80 for sure.

I've been thinking a 6.0 4l80 adapted to an HF2A but who knows what is in store...

heck ya...!!!

JUST GOT AN EMAIL WITH A TRACKING NUMBER FOR MY A.A. ADAPTER....

Looks like everything is coming along just fine. I was back to looking for another motor and found a few more iron blocks.

I think I'm gonna opt for the iron block because I can snap my fingers and have one here.

I'm having no luck finding an aluminum block, or should I say, an aluminum block IN MY PRICE RANGE. Geez.

I found a bunch of 6.2 (?) and 5 speed autos? wonder if they'd bolt up? A salvage yard with less than 100 miles on them. Trucks fell off loading dock or transport truck or something. 2010's.

Actually considering this same swap for my LX. Can you please IM me the info of the salvage yard?

they're all connected.

be sure you ask for a good swap,

or call the hutchins location and ask for ERIC WILCOX.

Have patience, get his email and he'll find you a good deal.

It seems that the more patient you are, the cheaper it is.

I would rather pay a little more and not have to do any legwork. It's so worth the family time not spending all my time trying to find a complete swap.

He will find you everything you need all from the same vehicle.

Aluminum and better heads.

You must have missed my post about falling into my price range.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love that engine; I just don't NEED it. I'm going to put a cam and springs in it, and will set it up for low end power, and I've got my eye on a blower. :hhmm:
I would like for the average guy to spend about 3k on engine, trans, harness, ecu, adapter and mounts; and I'm trying to get the two to four body connectors so I can term those onto the GM harness and "plug" the swap into my LC. This will be much easier finding a complete vehicle to pull all the parts from, which I've done now. I don't know if anyone has done this, I couldn't find a thread yet, but I have access to a large pallet shipping scale, so I'll be weighing the Toyota set up vs. the GM set up to get actual weight differences. My guy found that SS engine only, very low miles for 2800, again engine only. My delima is that, I'd rather spend that 1500 on upgrades than a cool engine. A V8 80 with 350 hp is cool enough for me

The blower is used though, so cam and blower would put me at or just above 4k total. I still have to buy suspension too, but I'm waiting to weigh everything to determine what spring rates to go with.

Good times, I cannot wait to see them!

I think that your Iron block will be more than fine. that is what I will be doing as soon as i find the right donor Cruiser.

in your estimation, do you think you'll hit around 15mpg with this engine combo or better?

Depends on the cam. I am looking for a take out cam from a zo6, 2002 and up, but they are rare. I'm putting an adjustable timing chain on it and changing the timing, but it really depends on the overlap. If there is excessive overlap the mileage is out the window, and when I went to laguna seca with my friend in his vette with a stock cam, we averaged 25 or so I believe. If I'm tuning it and run a lean cruise mix, I'm betting hwy will be better than expected and in town probably the same. Can't speak for anyone else. I'll have results.

Also have some corner scales from the race shop, so we'll corner weight the Land Cruiser before and after.... Stock suspension. :)

BTW, the adapter did show up today. Looks the same as the pics on the website, (duh what did I expect.)

This is what it's like now. waiting.

ohhhhh...

They're here...

Gotta watch out for the map sensor. The last RX7 swap I was involved in the map sensor was also broken. Guess I should just upgrade to a 2 or 3 bar so when I go supercharged It's mostly tuned... hehe..

No pedal either.

OH well. It won't hold me up if it takes another week to get here.

Wish that was in my garage!!!!!!

giddy up!! subscribed

GEET-R-DONE!!!

Do you need the pedal because of the drive by wire? What year is your engine?

yup. need the pedal for drive by wire. I love the GM drive by wire stuff.

Had lunch with my engine builder friend today. Picked up my adjustable timing chain and got valve springs yesterday. Got some tricky stuff up my sleeve. Still waiting on the cam.

separate subject: ADhD.

I'm putting this off for a week or two so I can focus on building the adapter harnesses for use of MAP ECU2, and for the 1991-4ish LC using a MS2. I'm trying to make them plug and play, but need to do that and test in mine before I yank out my engine.

I am using the GM ecu and software for the swap, so I need to get these two projects done before I do my swap.

I also have an old JEEPSTER restoration, (if anyone is old enough to know what that is) that I have to finish before I start the large project.
