The internet never ceases to amaze me. There's a forum for everyone. I guess if you can't find someone to agree with you, jump on the internet and find a group full of people who think like you do.

From your description and your thread, I'd take legal action. Have him front the bill to correct his "restoration."

I wonder if he's still on probation. If he is, this is clearly a violation.

On another note, how is "the a****** in SC" walking around scott free and this a****** had the FBI raid his house? He stole upwards of $50K and this guy only stole $27K.

that's a great way to get this thread deleted.

Wow... Just wow... and I don't mean JWOWW ...

Jim, you're a good man. Thank you for posting this; you've prolly saved a few people a lot of money and heartache.

@ FJ40Jim -

The pistons you're looking for, you might give Martin Davidson a call. If you're not familiar with him, he's the guy who builds MAFs engines and maintains their engine parts inventory. Last time I was in there to get a head done, I asked about 1mm o/s pistons for the 2F and he said he had a source, but it may have been ITM. Don't remember. That was about 18 months ago, though. He's a good guy and likes to talk.

If he has or can get them but doesn't want to ship, lemme know and I can pick up and ship since he's about 10 mins from me.

Martin Davidson Automotive: (818) 705-2441

Also, you might poke Mark A. ?

Thanks Spike. Martin & MAF are out of .75 or 1mm OS pistons in stock configuration. They just don't exist anywhere in the world AFAIK, and there are none in production.
MAF does have the sooper dooper high compression forged pistons, but I'm not paying too much money to get an engine that won't digest pump gas.

And thanks to the interweb super sleuths for digging up the interesting links.

Caveat emptor is the law in just about every state in the union. What kind of legal action would you propose?

Then why did he go to jail once already?

Gumby, if it is in writing, is it esentially a contract? So the terms of the contract have been violated?

It might not be up for criminal prosecution (sadly), but it seems like a solid civil case. The problem is the practical reality of prosecuting the action across the continent.

Edit: Oh, that is a good reason for selling this junk and shipping across the country!
I am a great technician. But a lousy businessman.

caveat emptor does not apply where someone makes innaccurate representations about the vehicle that are intended to be relied upon. if it is not as described you can sue.

i'm not saying you should sue, but it is certainly possible. and it would be interesting to try and bring up his criminal record for doing the same thing in cross examination

depends on where he delivered title to the goods. if you took title in washington you need to sue in washington.

you could try and get a prosecuter interested in it based on his prior record but i doubt they would bite.

In the case of the engines he was selling one thing, a 427 that had been rebuilt, and shipping another, a 406 junkyard block. In this case he's selling a used vehicle which generally has specific laws about buyer protection i.e. mileage rollbacks and often little else, and his claims are defendable. Was the engine rebuilt? Yes. Poorly, and not completely, but within a broad interpretation it was. What does mostly rust free mean?

I'm not defending the guy. I'm no lawyer. I'm just saying I can't see how you're going to get anyone interested in suing this guy. You tell a lawyer you bought a vehicle for 5 figures off the Internet with no inspection, what's he gonna say?

One of the biggest reasons for a place like mud, besides tech and the community, is protection against people like this. If you buy a cruiser you should, and should be able to, do research on the guy.his name, screen names, business names, and anything else should be posted.

My personal opinions, not necessarily those of the management.
