I'll get some pics up of the inner fender soon..I decided against the dual filler because they are known to cross contaminate and cost $$$.... Since I'm running a 2 tank wvo system I don't want wvo in my diesel tank...It was a tight fit mounting the filler and I did have to trim the corner of the plastic storage box to make room for the filler neck and hose..Also the passenger side was a good way to keep the tanks seperate so someone (wife, buddys) don't get confused as to which tank is which and the locking door just for extra measure....I will also have the ability to shut off all heat to the wvo system and run straight diesel in the second tank if I need to...
26gal sub + 25 stock = 51 gallons @ 25mpg =1275 miles till refuel:steer:

How the heck are you getting 25 mpg???

WOW...... just ......WOW! and i recall some pretty impressive power #'s too from your build thread.

Well around town I'm getting about 20mpg and on the highway 25... I haven't had it on the dyno, but I can easily spin the 35's without much throttle... I have turned up the pump a little and also have a HTT stage II turbo 58mm compressor and 12cm exhaust with a 4" air intake intercooled...Boost #'s are 25 with 1200 max egts.. The 80 series is heavy, but a the original Frito Lay van is a lot heavier when loaded...There is still alot of power left in the pump, but she's putting out more power than I really need..Most of the time I'm feathering the pedal and keeping speed no problem..Gotta love that Cummins...

That's cool. I'm currently putting in an HY35 turbo with a 9cm exhaust housing. I'm getting 18-21 mpg with 35's, 40 gallon LRA tank, and a ton of armor (bumpers, sliders, roof rack). The pump is stock and will get turned up once I finish the turbo and EGT gauge install.

And last time I drove an 80 with the OEM diesel engine I though it stinked against my FZJ engine :bang:

Regarding the Cummins engine weight, it´s more or less than Toyota´s own diesel ?

Bump for the pics! I'm (slowly) working on an aux tank setup and debating the dual filler neck vs. 2nd filler. Though I think I'd want it on the same side - not concerned about segragating fuel supplies as you are. Thoughts on making it fit on the drivers side, just aft of the stock location?

nice looking 2nd tank solution

looks like you could do a bolt-on skid plate pretty easily... heck, even just some steel angle iron across the front and back edge would offer a lot of protection.

if I ever get my veggie oil filter/heater installed (someday....) I'll be looking to do a 2nd tank somewhere as well.... yours is good inspiration.

Bump for thinking out of the box in getting longer range!

I'm sure this tank could easily be "cut" down to gain more ground clearance with a minimal overall sacrifice of its carrying capacity. ie 20 gallons instead....

Any chance of the the follow up pics??? and it was great meeting you in April...wish I had looked at this install then...maybe in September when I get back out there...:)

wow, congrats on your build! i like the idea of separating the tanks and filler necks, i've seen a svo/wvo hdj81 with 2nd man a fre tank that i'm sure cost more than triple the cost of your aluminum subtank, plus it had a dual filler but i think that alone cost close to 500 bucks. are you the only one with an svo/wvo 80 on this forum??! (or anyone else with an hdj80/81 have a smiliar set up?)
i'm hopin to head this direction, doin lots of research.

did you do your own svo/wvo set up or is it a greasecar or plantdrive set up, or at least parts from them?

and +4 on more pics! :D

I would also like some more info on running a 4bt on wvo. Are you just in the planning stages? I have researched other engines on running them on wvo, but never got any info on the 4bt.

Search veggie80 in deiseltech and hardcore for tons of build info.. He is done w/ the swap. Also a lot of general info at 4btswap.com and prolly some WVO info as well.
